Screen has a picture of the copier and screen on the screen and will not do anything else

    It sounds as if it is powered up all the way but it never gets past that first screen to the main screen

    I have a toshiba estudio 4511 it sounds as if it is powered up all the way but the screen stops on a grainy screen with a picture of the copier and the screen itself. no buttons will work it just sits there and does nothing. it is not connected to a computer, we just use it strictly for a copier nothing else. I can not use the machine at all

I found the users manual for your machine here
There is a section that is entitled "The equipment does not start"
It mentions the front cover must be closed. There is probably a little micro switch that senses when the door is open. Make sure this switch is still working.

There is also a section named
"Display does not Change when Buttons or Icons are Pressed"
There are some usefull sugestion in there about power saving mode and department locks.

    I understand that you use this as a copier only and do not connect it to a PC. Perhaps if you did connect it to a PC you would get some more diagnostic information. All the other manuals for this machine are here including a Network Guide. You probably won't have to do much more than connect it to your LAN and then point a web browser at it. You will have to figure out what address is asssigned to the printer but the network guide will help with that.

    There will be a wealth of information in logs and status pages once you get in.

Did you get a CD or a DVD with the copier? Have you installed the drivers for it on your PC/Laptop? If not then do it and then connect the copier to the PC. And let Windows detect it. Then only will it work. If any problems, then contact me again.

    Ok now you have clarified the whole picture. You never mentioned all this earlier. Anyway.
    Does it give any indication of getting power when you power it on?
    Any lights coming on, even if for asplit second.
    Please clarify these before we can proceed further.

The first thing we normally would recamend is to uninstall the printer completely, and reinstall the print drivers updated from the manufacturers web site, thew reason for this is windows automatic updates sometimes updates the systems main runtime libraries and causes instability issues with hardware, example. i downloaded windows xp sp3 updates from microsoft and now my printer is not working, reeason: their are system files that were present before the sp3 update but now they are conflicting with the new service pack updates. also note you probably have a system restore point you can go to that will restore you pc to the last time the p[rinter worked for you. if all else fails. then the isue is with the printers drivers. good luck with you problem, your very first step shuld be remove and add printer. then next try to open device manager and see if theirs any yellow marks visable. Please Note: Windows has been updateing almopst everyone with bits serverice enabled. this stands for background intellagent transfer service and it can be shut off threw the device manager services area. called bits and is set to startup mode automatic as well as windows update service. they will all be under status started, so clicking on top status tab will alow them to be easily allinged into their running order. good luck with your problem

Can't scan anything


To scan a document, open your HP printer ICON on the desktop screen. Then choose "scan" and either picture or document. Make sure you put your paper that you want scanned into the printer before you begin. After you choose scan and picture or document it will automatically pull the picture from the printer and bring it to your computer screen. Then you either accept or reject it. If you dont have your printer software installed go to HP's website and download the full software to run the officejet and install it. You will know if you have the software by checking to see if there is a printer ICON on your desktop.

Apparently takes pictures ... but black out the screen .... if you turn on and everything but can not see anything ... Sorry about my English


I see nothing on the monitor screen when I want to capture a picture. The screen monitor remaind black but I can capture new pictures. when I press the play button, I can't see the picture. When I retreive the picture from the camera to a computer, I realize the picture is black and I can't distinguish anything.
But when I introduce the good picture from my computer to the Digital Camera, from the Sceen Monitor, I can visualize only the good picture I introduce in mysefl.
The flash is working properly, the on/Off button is ok, the lens appear to be normal.
My Digital Camera is Casio EX-S880 EXILIM

Screen is blank but still takes pictures fine


Try removing the battery or reseting the unit if there is a reset button. Otherwise it sounds like the screen died.

what is the error message on the screen ... please remove cart trun off printer and start again and insert cart again

you will see error message on the screen... if this stays on fax than you have pressed fax button

I HAVE AN HP PHOTOSMART 140 SERIES PRINTER. I AM NOT GETTING ANYTHING TO DISPLAY ON THE LCD SCREEN. I AM HOWEVER ABLE TO PRINT PICTURES BUT WITHOUT ANY DISPLAY ON THE LCD SCREEN.


If the LED display screen on your printer is blank please try disconnecting the USB cable from the computer and then disconnect the power to your printer. Reconnect the power to a different power outlet, and turn your printer back on. If the same issue occurs, your printer will require service. call HP support so that they can recommend you to a servicer that specializes on the product. Pls rate as fixya, thanks!!
