Yes it is and many tiems a few years old fridge can fail now. It is a very good idea to check with consumer reports magazine to see what is the latest best quality frideg to get as manufacturers are looking to many new manufacturing countries to get lower prices on parts to make more profits for share holders.
Lately LG, Samsung and Whirlpool have been good models as most of their models are made in one country. Check with the local retailer to see which fridges have been the best selling and trouble free.
Cheers

I have a GE profile series fridge. Its not old, as it was in the house we just bought. It has a bottom freezer. The problem is that almost every morning there are small puddles of water under the...

It is probably water from the auto defrost feature. It is suppose to go into a pan under the machine and evaporate into the air ... yours may be over flowing due to high humidity condition in your area.

GE fridge is warm and broken; the freezer is cold though.

Air circulation problem. Evaporator fan in freezer moves some air to refrig. Either fan is not working or air passages are blocked with ice. If ice found, then a defrost component failure has occurred. Fix what you find.

Freezer not staying cold in the hot weather

Same problem as all of you. Mine happened at 17months old, not covered under warranty and cost just under $400 to have them replace the circuit board. Top of the line fridge and it is just junk! I am reading on blogs that there is a recall on these circuit boards but no one has yet to find where to call to get a free one. GE shouldn't be charging people to repair something that was bad right from the beginning whether it is past the warranty, or not. I just can't even underestand how you buy a top of the line product and you have a problem before it is even 2 years old.

I also bought a GE microwave at the same time, again, top of the line, $400 piece of junk, which I have also had nothing but problems with. It needed a new circuit board also within the first 6 months of owning it. That one was covered under warranty. Oh, and get this, the repairman had to order the circuit board rather than get me a new fridge because he says "this microwave is obselete now", are you kidding? it's 6 months old.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT AGAIN!
