Stanley 450 amp how long does it takebto charge

Sealed lead acid batteries are at the heart of most jumpstarters, mobile power supplies and equipment with standby capability. Such batteries arrive in a wide variety of qualities and while not particularly unreliable they do tend to fail suddenly.

Most often it is leaving them in a discharged state for more than a few weeks that hastens the death of all lead acid batteries. Even leaving one in a half charged state for as little as a month will permanently damage the battery causing it to have a reduced capacity.

The instruction leaflets supplied with such equipment invariably say recharge should take place periodically and after every use.

Usually there is an indicator light to show when charging has been successful but an overnight charge should be sufficient for a simple top-up charge and perhaps 24 hours for a periodic charge.

Use a digital voltmeter to check the battery voltage after it has been off-charge for 24 hours. A young healthy 12 volt battery will read 13.2 volts. An older but still usable example will read perhaps 12.7. 12.5 volts could be usable but the battery is definitely past its best.

A 12 volt battery that has a voltage of 12 volts is only half charged and is practically useless...

Less than 12 volts after charging and it is ready for recycling.

Can you replace a Peg Perego Four Wheeler 12 Volt Battery with a different brand? (Like a 12 Volt 20Ah Rechargeable Battery....will that give it more power, or last longer??)

yes!!!! you should use SEALED lead acid batteries, not golf cart or boat batteries due to risk of build up of gases inside the little chambers and possible explosion or acid burns. batteries from computer back up units are great and you can find pretty good deals on ebay for those. keep the connectors off the old battery and use it on the new one. the one possible downside is the bigger battery might not fit in the regular spot, but you can modify the space usually with a few strategic cutouts. good luck!

I bought a new battery (FNB-RG-67LI) that arrived with 7.5 volts. I installed to the radio and conected to the ac outlet. After 12 hours charging is in 7.6 volts.

That may be a decent nominal voltage for the first charge. Use the radio until the battery is low and then recharge for another 12-hour cycle. That battery pack is notorious for not taking a full charge first time it's charged up.

I just bought a new battery charger cable called (Sealed Lead-Acid Charger) to replace an older (Lead Acid battery charger). The New Battery charger will charge for about 2 to 5 minutes and then stop...

ismail the charger you bought should do the job. By stop charging do you mean the light on the charger turns from yellow to green? Your scooter has small batteries 12/12 and don't require along period of charging. Now the scooter has a heat sensor for the batteries and will cut off charging when temp of the batteries gets too high. The older charger could have overcharged your batteries and made them weaker instead of stronger. I would suggest you replace the batteries (2 12/12AH) and charge them with the new charger. Remember to reinstall the heat sensors on each battery when replacing. If you have a digital voltmeter set it to 200 v dc and put the leads into the 2 outer plugs in the charger port on the battery pack. You should read 24-26 volts dc when the batteries are fully charged anything less would mean weak batteries. Hope this helps you

For use during an extended power outage, where of course you wouldn't be able to recharge the battery after it drained initially, I'm wondering if anyone has tried using a 12 volt lead acid rechargeable...

You simply need a DC - AC Inverter, these can be obtained from somewhere like Radio Shack, or the like, pretty cheaply. These convert 12V DC into 115/120V AC (Some are 24V - 115/120 V) for use with your household appliances. You can get them from 100 Watts to over 1 kilowatt (!000 Watts) They can be used on almost anything at all, except things with big motors in them. Then you can simply plug the AC adapter into the inverter and you are good to go. not having to worry if your laptop is getting correct power.
Often the DC input into a laptop is between 14 Volts DC to 22 Volts DC and a high current too, up to 5 Amps. So the inverter is your best option.
Anyway you would need to use at least TWO 12 Volt batteries and then you would have to make it the exact voltage the laptop needed.. if it was say 19V then you are still going to have to find a way to drop the 24 V to 19 V, anyway so.....

Yuasa np7-12 batterty has discharged after 7 yrs. Can I recharge using a std 12 v trickle charger?

Your Yuasa battery is of the sealed lead/acid type. These batteries are meant to be trickle charged at a voltage between 13.2 volts dc to 13.8. If the battery is dead it could take up to one day to completely recharge it. However, you mention it is 7 years old. The life of these batteries is generally 4-5 years. Their rated capacity (7 amp hour when new) diminishes over time. So there is a good possibility that your battery is getting too old to keep a charge and needs to be replaced.

When I plug the battery in to be charged the light on the charge stays green. The light never changes to orange/amber. This is not a new battery I have had it for a while.

Your SLA (Seal Lead Acid) battery is must likely past its useful life due to Sulfation and internal mechanical damage (corroded plates): your charger, like for most car lead acid battery charger is indicating that only a very small charging current is flowing just like when a battery if fully charged ... or the terminals are not connected (no current)! You can check if the charger is working by preferrably using a multimeter or connecting a know good battery unit to the charger.

Dead battery

It depends on what voltage the internal battery is. If it's a 6 volt, the charging voltage will be a little higher, close to 6.5 to 7 volts. Most of these spotlights are 6 volt. New batteries can be found at Battery International:
