Paper won't feed straight and jams

Usually misfeed of pare is caused by some obstruction in the paper path. use a piece of stiff card not too thick and try and assist it through the path as it is drawn into the path. this will often help remove any obstructions.

When inserting paper into printer ( do not use photocopy paper) always "Fan" the paper top and bottom like frrrrping playing cards. this reduces the static that often causes misfeeds.

Check that the paper path rolloers have not become too shiny with dried ink. use Isopropyl alcohol to remove this build up as it causes misfeeds by slipping on paper.

Those are the most common causes of yopur probplem.

Thanks for using FIXYA

I have a HP 950C Printer And Am Trying To Print on photo paper

It sounds like the printers rollers are slipping on the heavier paper, possibly because this paper is smoother then your regular paper.

Try cleaning the exit rollers on the printer with something like methylated spirits - if the rollers have gone shiny, then you can usually revive them by using some emery paper to roughen them up.

Epson R300 printer not loading paper.

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Will not feed paper

Sounds like the gears are out of alignment for the paper pick up tray.

Paper not feeding

Here is the solution, Inside the upright paper tray, on the bottom, there is a little blue "rubber roller", like 2" short, maybe 1.5" in diameter. That blue roller works as a grip, it feeds one sheet of paper to the main roller, which then passes it to other rollers, coronas, transfers, and such. That is the How, in short, Now the Why. That little blue roller wears down over use, like an eraser. It can not grip the paper, unless you fill the paper completely, or try to feed one page at a time, bending the paper to try to get it to grip.
Sometimes That doesn't work because it's worn down so much. Lexmark sells maintenance kits, which include the grip roller along with other replaceable parts. They may sell just that alone, idk.

Also another problem is the metal bar the roller sits on. That metal bar is connected the small gears on both ends. If those gears aren't moving properly, the rubber grip will not engage. A quick fix may be too lube the gears, or there may be something jammed in those gears.

These problems cane be caused by a number of things.

1. Dirty or worn pickup rollers. Clean the rollers with alcohol. This can be hard to do because you have to clean the portion of the roller that actually contacts the paper. This will only work if the rollers are slipping on the paper.

2. Object stuck in paper path. Again, can be hard to get rid of depending on how far in it is. It can actually prevent the tray from moving into the pickup position.

3. Broken gear in the paper pickup assembly, or somehow the timing has been changed. The gears in many paper pickup assemblies (or ASF for Auto Sheet Feeder) have to be timed correctly. If someone has pulled a piece of paper out causing the gears to skip a few coggs, the timing can be off and the unit will either not pick up paper or will fire a sheet or two out as soon as it's turned on. Unfortunately this fault would have to be corrected by a service tech who knows how to reset the timing correctly.

Dell 1700 laser printer wont load from tray only manual

This is a common misconception with this model printer. People say that the roller does not drop down to pick up the paper. With this model printer, the pickup rollers ONLY drop when the paper tray is inserted. If you look on the top left edge of the paper tray towards the front of the printer you will see 1 1/2" to 2" section where the plastic edge is raised about 1/2 an inch. This raised part in the plastic actually serves as the mechanism for dropping the pickup rollers on to the paper.

So... The solution DOES HAPPEN TO BE cleaning or replacing the pickup rolers/tires. Rubber rejuvinator is the best for cleaning the rollers, but buying a whole can that you may only use once or twice may be a bit overkill. You can try cleaning them with soapy water if you do not have any rubber rejuvinator. DO NOT use alcohol, as this will dry out the rollers and shorten their lifespan even more.
