Question about Dell Computers & Internet
Dell Latitude D610 power brick LED goes out when it is plugged into laptop. Tried another power brick and the problem persists. Laptop works on battery. Removed motherboard and all attached components and still the same problem. Looks like a faulty component on the motherboard. Can't find a schematic of the motherboard. Any assistance appreciated.
Unfortunately you are correct in that there is a faulty component on the mother board. The rest of the bad news is the motherboard will cost as much as a new computer and is most likely only available from Dell unless you get lucky and find one on ebay. In the power circuit there are several Diodes and Capacitors. If any of these go out you will have this issue. Another possible failure point if the power plug itself. If there is any wiggle at all you could have a broken circuit path. This seems like an easy fix with solder but the truth is that is a multi-layer circuit board and very hard top make sure you have a good connection across all layers unless you have the proper hot air station to doing the repair. Look on ebay for your model where someone is selling parts for a busted screen or somthing like that and replace the motherboard. Remember it needs to be the same model since the motherboard is cut specifically for the housing. This will be your cheapest and easiest solution. Another option would be to part out and sell the remaining working compnents yourself and replace you computer. Sorry, I have no other solution. The good news is the working parts including the screen should just about net you 75% of the cost of a new machine if you choose that route.
