Question about Dryers

Open Question

Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGL8858000 (1995? Manufacture?)

This particular model has an easy clean 100TM lint feature collector basket on top of the dryer. Lint usually collects in this box. However, it is not collecting anything. Page 12 of the User Handbook for this product says to call Consumer Assistance Center which I have done. They cannot help me. They want me to get a repairman. I would like to try to solve the problem myself before I pay $75 for a repair person to come into my house. The dryer works fine except for this problem.

You can check for suction by pulling out the lint screen and holding a piece of paper over it while the dryer is running. If there is suction then it all works correctly. If there is no suction, then there is a clog somewhere inside. You can clear the clog with a long bottle brush or with an attachment from a vacuum cleaner to get inside. If all looks good and still no lint on the screen, the screen may be too short for the dryer and could be a wrong screen for it.

SOURCE: water dripping outside the collector

I think that there is a 90 degree bend in the outlet on the bottom right front side of the collection tray that gets pluged with dirt, line etc. You can see this when you remove the collection container from the unit. I used a small piece of wire to clean out the hole and now the water goes into the tank and not onto the floor.

SOURCE: how do you clean out food debris collected at the back?

I was not able to find any specific information about the Moffat MSC3504 dishwasher. I recommend you go to this site and download the only manual that I could find for a Moffat. It may have some hints for you.
Also, if you see screws holding the mesh down, recommend you take a picture of the area and have at it!

Please be generous when you rate my level of helpfulness as I am in the US and have never touched a Moffat model.

The peice your refering to is called a door switch, and its a pretty easy repair. You'll need your model number handy, and then contact a local parts distributor in your area. Once that is done, if your dryer is a standard whirlpool, you'll just take the two screws out of the top by the lint trap and pop the top up. Once thats done look down to the right and you'll aee the switch which is held in by two screws on the outside portion of the door.

My whirlpool ultracare !! dryer will not heat. I have to dry things over and oer and over til they finally dry.

i looked up your model number and that's to a washer not a dryer.if it's a gas dryer it sounds like you have bad gas coils located on top of the gas valve.the coils work until they heat up like in the first 15 to 30 minutes and they shut down, when they cool they work again until they heat up and fail, this is why you have to keep running thedryer, one more problem could be the dryer needs to be cleaned out.clean out the vent line, clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and vac out the cabinet where the motor is

Dryer cuts off after 10 minutes

Agree with you. Make sure the lint collector is clean and ditto for the vent. If it goes up to roof have to check it there also to make sure there are no obstructions whatsoever in vent line. Unit is turning off because it is overheating. If lint collector and vent is squeaky clean and unit blows out like crazy then the temp switch is opening up prematurely and might need replacement or jumping - your call. Gas dryer quit heating

Hi there,

Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes. Post comments for further help or information.....

Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Gas Dryer - takes to long to dry

Friend,
huuum At your service!

Sometimes this can happen when the vent line is clogged.

1. Check if the lint filter is full and needs to be cleaned.
Try this first. If the vent line is kinked or blocked
2. Then check if the outside screen covering the exhaust vent if this is even half blocked
with lint there will be no heat! This screen is to keep small animals out!
Try checking this and if it is clogged or the spring loaded door is stuck closed.
Try to clean the lint out of the corners of the flap door,
and or remove the screen permanently!
NO ANIMALS LIKE TO GET BURNT,IT'S HOT IN THAT TUBE!
Take the vent line off the rear of the dryer and try if it works. If it does you know it's the vent line and not the dryer that's the problem the dryer.

You will be fine
Bless You huuum

take a screwdriver and push it in below the door at the top of the bottom panel, near each end of the panel, there is a springclip to pry on that that releases the panel and it will fold out and then lift off. then you can get access by removing a few screws.
BE SURE TO UNPLUG BEFORE WORKING ON IT.
