Question about Microwave Ovens
Thanks for using FixYa. This has happened due to burning of magnetron, you’ll need to replace the magnetron. There is extended warranty on magnetron for a total of 10 years, please check this from the user manual of your GE Microwave oven. Getting this done from GE would cost you around $200-250. Here are the steps if you want to replace it yourself--
Warning: Please be careful while handling capacitor and other parts electrical parts. Discharge the capacitor by shorting the terminals. Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it. With the microwave unplugged.
Please click on the diagram to zoom in. You can buy the magnetron from this link--
