Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. This has happened due to burning of magnetron, you’ll need to replace the magnetron. There is extended warranty on magnetron for a total of 10 years, please check this from the user manual of your GE Microwave oven. Getting this done from GE would cost you around $200-250. Here are the steps if you want to replace it yourself--

Warning: Please be careful while handling capacitor and other parts electrical parts. Discharge the capacitor by shorting the terminals. Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it. With the microwave unplugged.

  • Unplug Microwave at least few hours before.
  • Remove Microwave from above oven range by somebody holding Microwave from ground unscrew the screws from cabinet.
  • Remove top cover off the Microwave from the housing above the built-in oven with the two screws attached.
  • Make sure to keep these screws correctly in a place you remember what goes where.
  • Make sure capacitor is discharged. As a precaution check the voltage in capacitor to make sure there is no electricity.
  • Then remove the screws from the top and side of the microwave access panels to access the magnetron.
  • You need to remove lot of connecting wires, should be careful to note down what goes where If possible take digital photos to refer back when you put everything back together
  • Remove bottom panel and remove transformer
  • Now it should be easy to remove magnetron
  • Replace new magnetron and screw it. We had to put one outside part from old magnetron to new one because new one was missing that. Check to make sure both old and new one are exactly the same
  • Make sure put all wires properly back
  • Now put transformer back and screw it
  • Put capacitor panel in place and screw it
  • Test the Microwave to make sure it works fine.
  • Now start to all cover panels start to screw everything
  • Once everything is assembled put the Microwave back above range put screws from top.
Please see part #1 (magnetron) from this diagram--

Please click on the diagram to zoom in. You can buy the magnetron from this link--

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee

GE eterna spacemaker microwave won't heat

The problem is a magnetron, "heart of the system" or the inverter board, "if 7 years old or less" and possibly the keypad control board, all of these items are not cheap and lethal voltages are present.

I have a GE space saver Model JVM3670 - it is not heating up

Generally if everything else looks like it is working fine, then the magnetron has quit and needs to be replaced. The magnetron is the part that heats the food. Unfortunately, it is common for this part to fail on GE microwaves and it isn't worth replacing as the cost of the part is almost the same as buying a new microwave.
Let me know how this works out for you.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

Everything works except heat

this is something you should probably call a repair technician for, due to the danger of the componentry.

Usually in ther case of this problem, even a technician will advise you to replace the unit, in the minds of cost effectiveness and safety...

Kenmore Microwave Hood Combination: over the stove Model #721.80602500

Disclaimer: I'm a DIYer, not a technician.

Our GE over-the-range microwave stopped producing heat yesterday while warming part of the T-giving feast. Everything else (fan, control panel, light) works fine.

After disassembly and testing last night, I discovered a defective "secondary door switch." Your Kenmore uses a similar switch (~$19 on-line), and that might be the problem. But it also could be other things, such as a bad thermal cut-out.

If you know anyone who's handy with a multimeter, most of the basic diagnostics seem to be pretty straightforward.
