Don't increase the amp size of the fuse this could cause the wiring to get hot or component to get hot and catch on fire. Is the fuse the main fuse the one that the power cord goes to?

GE Profile Microwave Fuse Keeps Blowing

First of all, be sure your AC line voltage is correct at the outlet, at between 105 and 125VAC. If not, call an electrician.

There should be a technical sheet hidden behind the controller or behind the grille or the oven. It's helpful when troubleshooting. If you don't find yours, e-mail me for a copy.

Next take a look at the fuse holder connections and wire terminal connections on the filter board where the fuse is.

Loose or charred connections can increase heat and resistance, leading to a melted fuse.

Also look at the terminals on the upper door switch, magnetron thermostat, and oven thermostat for the same reasons as above. (You'll probably have to remove the oven from the wall to get to the oven thermostat. Your installation instructions are here.)

It's not likely the trouble, but you can eliminate monitor interlock trouble by disconnecting one wire (probably the black one) from the middle door switch and trying your test again. (Ignore the bottom door switch altogether.)

GE spacemaker XL microwave oven blowing fuse

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead several seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the house fuse or breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder, or even an intermittent fuse.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Here's a YouTube video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Microwave suddenly went dead - completely black. All 'house' fuses are okay. Could it be a fuse in the microwave itself?

Yes! that is exactly the problem, the fuse is a ceramic type "white body with silver ends" located near the high voltage capacitor, unplug and allow 30 seconds for the capacitor to dis-charge before removing the fuse. Keep in mind the reason for the fuse to blow is often caused a defective door switch, or you just might get away with changing the fuse.

GE Profile - Fuse blown. Replaced it. Hear click when start

Fuses usually blow for a reason, there is or was a short. I have a tip which may solved your problem at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4265491-replace_bad_magnetron It explains how to check all the components. If only your display is working you know the transformer is ok but your problem addresses a problem that you do not see very often. You may have a bad control panel and that is why the replacement fuse did not blow. Whatever was shorted is now open. If you follow my instructions in the tip and find no problems I would replace the control panel. http://www.repairclinic.com can supply the parts. Let me know if you need more help.

I've replaced the fuse three times in my GE over the counter microwave. The clock, timer, lights work, but when I put something in the oven to heat, it immediately blows the new fuse. Is there something...

NO, MW can be LEATHAL.. If a fuse is blowing that means that you have a Phase to Earth fault BAD. In all likelihood the mangnetron is failing, or perhaps even the Power Supply is faulty. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man.
Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.Yes they are right.

Need to replace fuse in GE Profile advantium oven

remove outer shell/cover, the fuse will be in a fuse holder about 1" long X 1/8" in diameter and is called a ceramic fuse, take it out, look on ends for current rating go to hardware store they have repl fuses, if the new fuse blows it could be your h.v. diode, capacitor, or the magnetron tube

I have a GE Profile spacemaker 2.0 microwave and it just quit working on me. Sounded like a fuse popped?? I verified that the electrical outlet was working. Is there a fuse to replace inside the microwave?

Hello. You have isolated the problem.

Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.

I have a ge profile microwave. When I plug in the microwave, it's fine. As soon as I hit the start button, the microwave blows the HVT fuse. I assumed that it was the diode and the capacitor that were bad....

Another possible option would be to cheak the door micro switches . They can also blow the ceranic fuses.also how did you cheak the magnatron?Did you remove it complet and cheak over the ceramic end area if it was bubled?

Fuse keeps blowing.

couple questions -
what else is on the circuit,
and what current does the oven need

there are whirlpool over-range models with
1200watts of microwave,
1500watts of convection power, a
60watt bulb and a
375watt fan

over 15amps -20amp circuit needed

if you inadvertantly replaced a higher current fuse with a 15amp fuse, it will blow every time.
the install guide http://www.whirlpool.com/assets/pdfs/product/ZINSTALL/8206589.pdf reccommends 20amp
not a solution, something to check,
