Question about Hitachi UltraVision CineForm 55VG825 55" HDTV
I have an older 46" rear projection TV and although I have a zillion owners manuals I cannot find this one so I do not know the model number. It has been perfect for almost 20 years in spite of a cross-country trip in my RV 9 years ago.
I recently acquired a directv HD dish, the receiver is set to standard definition but I started having a screen scrolling problem. This problem did not exist with my former SD dish and DID NOT occur initially when the new one was installed.
This is a weird problem because it does not occur on all channels, on some it only occurs during commercials and on others it stops during commercials. Not that I care about the commercials but it seems relevant to the issue.
It NEVER occurs on the mini Picture In Picture view when selected by the Hitachi remote or when the directv channel guide is on and their small screen image like PIP appears. This leads me to believe it is a signal problem rather than the TV but I know nothing about the innerds of a TV except to stay out.
The major network channels do not have the problem except during commercials which is fine by me. I have checked the signal strength using the dish onscreen display and it is fine.
I will probably purchase a new HD TV in the near future but if this problem were easily resolved I wouldn't, I like my Hitachi. The last thing I want to do is to make an expensive purchace only to find out the problem still exists.
I have not tried to contact Directv but based on past experience they will tell me to fix or replace the TV. This may very well be the solution but I would rather hear it from you.
Are you using the AV outputs on the Receiver and not the composite grn-red-blue. Do you have the converter jack on the back by the ant. input? what souce on the set are you using for PIP and your main screen?
