Ok well Ive taken an xbox apart many many many times, and if you do not want to pay xbox a hundred bux then this may work for you, You will need a very small and thin flat head screwdriver for the first part, basically on the back of the xbox where the power cord goes there is a line that seperates the xbox in two halves, it is ovbiously connected to one another, if you look into line closley you will see what looks like little white (Black if your box is black) simple take the flat head screwdriver and tuck it in between the two halves while also alighning the screwdriver up with the tabs, and push in until you here a click, there are like 3 or 4 tabs you have to do this to along the back side of the box until the back side is completley detached, the front side also needs to be detached so take the faceplate off exposing the robot like xbox tab connectors, theres one on the top the bottom and the middle take the same screwdriver and just tuck the driver underneath and pull up and they should click off youwill notice a microsoft sticker as well, so before you really decide to do this make sure it isnt under warrenty still., once that is done the botton grey pieces should come off pretty easy as well, be carefull while doing all of this as to not break any tabs, You will need them in the future to reassemble the box case.Once you have the white case completley out of the box its pretty easy to figure out what screws you will need to unscrew the screws to expose the insides of the beast. You will need a special tool i believe, like a hex wrench of some sort, and once you get the metal case off you will have access to the cd rom drive which is connected by like 2 wires, unscrew the drive un plug all the cables, then unscrew the top of the cd rom drive to expose that and examine basically why your track is (Off track) if all of this is confusing id simply just pay the repair cost, but if you want to attempt and this isnt of any help there are many sites online with picture details on how to take apart an xbox step by step, they also show you how to customize your xbox like my clear case xbox with blue leds. I hope i was of somewhat a help to you
