Question about Bissell 3576 CleanView II Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Our Bissell Cleanview II 3576M does a great job except that the filter cup below the dirt cup gets full very fast and the dirt cup barely has anything in it. To clean the whole house, I have to empty the dirt cup and clean the filter several times. It didn't use to work this way. It seems like something is missing, a gasket or seal maybe? I don't think dirt, hair and debris should be going straight to the lower cup and bypassing the upper. I looked at the user guide but can't see why it's happening.

How do I clean the filter

The foam filter can be hand washed, squeezed and them dried.
The pleated filter really never seems to loose it stall smell after cleaning. It's best to tap it against the hard ground to free the dirt.
Washing it can cause odors.

Your belt may be broken, your dirt cup may be full, or you may need to clean your filters. Look at these areas and you can find addional troubleshooting at this link (just select the type of vacuum you have in the dropdown menu): http://www.bissell.com/faqs/?c=330&sc=345&cid=ccsocial

Dirt gets caught up in filter instead of in removable container

That is the problem with the bagless cleaners. The dirt goes through the cup, directly to the filter. There is nothing to keep them seperate. You can try putting a single layer of paper towel against the filter. It will provide a breathable barrier for the dirt but, it will clog too.

Vacuum doesn't suck (boy, what a problem :D!)

First, check the suction at the end of the hose and make sure there is good pull. On some models, there is a filter tray located under the dirt cup with a washable foam filter in it that could be plugged. It is also possible that the tray could have fallen out during your move. If it is missing, the motor will run, but won't direct the suction to the cup and you won't get any suction from the hose. Note.. not all models have this tray. If the tray is missing, you shouldn't get any suction from the hose.
