I bought a Eureka Enviro Vac about a year ago and it worked great...until a few weeks ago- the belt on it broke after i loaned it to my sister. I figured the belt needed to be changed so i changed it. I turned it on and the belt did not spin but the metal piece it hooks on did and it got very hot and broke the belt in about 15 seconds. The hose still works and sucks up fine but the big part (i think its called a deck) does not **** up at all. I had the warranty on it but i lost the paperwork in a move so i cannot take it to get it fixed and i am too broke to get a new vacuum. PLEASE HELP! :)
First , spin the brush roll by hand and see if it spins freely. Then remove it. CLEAN OUT ANY HAIR OR THREAD UNDER THE CAPS Inspect the end caps , if one is melted you will need to replace the cap if available or the entire brush roll assembly. The "metal piece" is the motor shaft. Clean any burned rubber of with fine wet dry sand paper, then install a fresh belt, using the brush for leverage to stretch the belt into place. Rotate the brush again to be sure it is not binding and that the belt is not pinched anywhere. Buy 2 belts and keep your spare inside the hood of the vac.

I have a Eureka Smartvac 4870 which has very weak suction both on the floor and with the hose. There is a new bag, new belt. There are no blockages or dirty filters. It also no longer "drives itself" (when it worked correctly, it would move itself forward). Do you know what's wrong? Thanks!
