I tried that already. I was working with iwsolve yesterday because I was getting a not connected icon on my laptop (xp) . and my desktop (vista). Iwsolve corrected the problem on the laptop by loading the 'playforsure' firmware on the laptop. I ask if I should try it on the desktop and he said try it but it probably will not work because it has vista. It did not work. Now on the desktop I have two icons 'Nomad Explorer & Nomad Jukebox Xtra' and with I connect the player it think it the Jukebox and nothing happens, including when I try to run the player recovery program. Same thing happens on the laptop. I probably need someone to sign on and look at it. I trying to withdraw my unlimited pay and just pay for the chat assistance

Still having problems with Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra. I get connectivity in dev man & my computer, but mp recovery not working, player stuck in recovery mode & everytime I try to reboot it states that there is a fimware error

You have sent the same solution 3 times and it hasn't work

  • lardray Sep 17, 2009

I had exactly the same symptoms, as did many of the posters in this thread. By reading the thread, I found what worked for me was 1) find a computer with Windows Media 10, not 11 (this was the key for me); 2) download and install the latest Zen Xtra driver on that computer, then connect the Xtra; 3) download and install the latest firmware (assuming you want the version 2 firmware with playforsure). Once the new firmware is installed, the Xtra will work fine on your original computer - it seems that it really is WM 11 that prevents the unit from being recognized so the firmware can be installed. I had tried this procedure first on a second computer that had WM 11 but had never had a Creative device attached, and it failed to install the firmware - because of the WM 11.

Hi lardray

Now I do not know wich problem you have yesterday, but !
I can try to help you throu these steps :
1.Connection problem with the computer:
See if your connection to the computer work properly, try to chance the USB entrance from your computer
OR
See if you had a fail installation of the driver to your product and reinstall the driver from here if it is this device :Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 1.30.03:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/CREATIVE/Creative-Nomad-Jukebox-Zen-Xtra-13003.shtml

2. Problem with playing songs directly form the Mp3 player:
Try to reformat the mp3 player. Just go to "my computer" and highlight the Mp3 player and right click and choose format. (Before doing that try to copy all the stuff you have on the Mp3 player to your computer and then you can copy it back again when you have reformat the Mp3 player.)
OR
Close you Mp3 player, take the batteries out and wait for 15 min and reopen it.(chance the batteries if possible or be sure they are charged)

Or try to contact the support team here :

    Hi again

Here you can try the Support team for Windows Media Player 11 :
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows...

On the right side choose your country and then on the next page choose "get help now", contact a support professional by e mail, online or phone, on the next page choose windows media player 11, on the next page accept the agreement, and follow the instructions.

It seems that the configuration on one computer has to be different. Windows Media Player can bee conplex system to work with.

    Hope that helps
    If not the return here
    Have a nice evening

    Hi I am back again

Bee sure that other programs are closed when you install even windows media player 11, and try another usb- entrance on the computer

    Let me know
    Have a nice day

  • Peter Dragonetti Sep 18, 2009

I see it in this way:

You have a laptop with windows vista, but you can not connect you device when you have windows media player 11, but if you have windows media player 10 then it is no problem. Is it right ??

  • Peter Dragonetti Sep 18, 2009

    Hi again
    1. It could bee your USB connection on the computer: try a different one
    2. It could bee your setup file that it is corrupted: download another one
3.If you not see the device in your computer it could bee that you have too many USB devices connected: try too disconnect some of your USB devices and then try to install the software.

Try these and then return if it is not working still
    Have a nice weekend :O)

Another solution is maybe is to reset the unit

It seems that Windows media 11 is a problem with upgrading the firmware.
If you can find a pc with XP and media version 10 you could try upgrading the firmware on that - otherwise you can try uninstalling 11 on yours.

Here is how it worked for one person:

I had exactly the same symptoms, as did many of the posters in this thread. Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra Display Failure

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard
