Hello michaelandta,

Check your filter settings on the front channels. It sounds like they may be set to "high pass" which would eliminate the bass frequencies. If you are using the amp to power normal speakers, it's usually best to set the filters for "full range". If the amp only has "low pass" and "high pass" settings, turn them both OFF.

Hope this helps.

Do large speakers have to be in front

This being a generic question, I can only provide a generic answr:

In multichannel rigs the question of Large vs Small denotes nit the 'size' but the ability to handle bass - Large presumed to be bass-capable. When you identify a particular speaker as 'small' in an AVR you're telling it to redirect bass to either the Subwoofer or the Main Speakers if they are 'Large'. Some AVR's also allow sharing the bass with the sub instead of having it all go there. If you have large speakers configured for bass the realism of surrounding bass sounds is better.

You can have many combinations of Large vs Small speakers in most AV setups but there usually are some dependencies. For example, bass can't be directed from one 'small' speaker to another; or if you select 'small' for the front speakers a Sub is presumed to exist.

I have all large speakers in my set.

Noise/No Bass in Delco Systems stereo

You have a possible fault in your wiring of the speakers, the Phases of the speakers are crossed over resulting in cancelling of the low frequency- bass frequency. Hence please reconnect the speakers front and rear with the positive/ negative to the corresponding positive and negative of the speakers. If you are unable to fix the marking of the polarity use 1.5 Volt cell to connect to the speakers , if the speaker moves up the terminal on the positve of battery is positive. reconnect and test with a good bass song for result. Helpful. Good day

1995 Toyota Avalon Right Rear Speaker Problems

Hello gecpimp,

It certainly sounds like the speaker has failed. Most OEM speakers have paper cones and cloth surrounds and it is not uncommon for the adhesive to give out in the vehicle environment.

The Avalon uses the "workhorse" of car audio speakers. Both front and rear are 5-1/4" and you can get great aftermarket speakers in that size. Unfortunately, no 5-1/4 speaker is really good at reproducing bass. A really good set of Focal full-range speakers, the Polyglass 130 CVX runs $300 at www.crutchfield.com. Somewhat less expensive are the JL Audio C2-525X at $180. Speakers such as these will give you the best sound. Somewhat less expensive are Alpine and Infinity, but they're still good. It would probably be a good idea while you have the door panels off, to go ahead and replace the fronts at the same time.

Hope this helps.

Only 3 speakers work!

I took the bottom off my go play to have a look inside, the internal port is connected to one rear speaker grill and the other is blanked off, so no sound will come out of that one.

If you're saying you hooked the Bose speakers directly to the Yamaha's amp instead of the prescribed way through their own bass module - they're cooked.

Yes you can use the speaker output in conjuction with the rca pre-outs...but depending on the wattage of the amp, there may be a big difference between the loudness of the front speakers over the rear speakers. If you have a 4 channel amp you can put the rear speakers on the amp also and lower the input gain for the rear speaker. Or if you have a 2 channel amp, you could use a passive crossover to filter out some of the bass to the rear speakers since they are smaller, this would help prevent over-driving them...as it is normally too much bass that distorts and blows a speaker. I'm not sure what you are asking about the hi-rear preouts vs the mid front pre-outs. If you decide to use the amp for the fronts you should be able to connect the amp from the front preouts of the deck. Hope this helps.

Can i use small satelite speakers with my big front speakers?

Hi, I asume your setting up a home theater with five speakers a center left and right and rear surrounds don't know if you have a subwoofer. The large speakers in the front will work fine if you set the amp to large front speakers the bass will be sent to these. If you have a subwoofer set, the amp to small front speakers and the bass will be directed to it. Also try to get a center channel speaker that sounds somewhat like your large speakers.
