When you say "cannot burn", what do you mean?
Can you select files/folders to be written?
When you insert a "blank" CD-R, is it recognized?
When you click "burn", does it start to write to the disk,
or do you get an error-message?
Which software (Nero? AShampoo? SonicSound?) is writing to the CD-R?

Of course, any problem can be fixed. :-)

What happens when you attempt to burn a CD-r?

Try burning it with another burning program like CDBurnerXP - http://cdburnerxp.se/

And let me know how it goes.
Thanks

I want to save my picture files on the cd or dvd tape but i cant transfer it.

You need a burning software to burn your picture files, music, or video.
You can use NERO Burning ROM. Download it from HERE. You can use the "Data Burning" Feature in it to transfer your files into CD or DVD.

HOW I DOWLOAD MY COMPUTER PICTURE TO A CD

  1. Check your computer to see that it has a CD or DVD drive that is capable of burning CDs. This drive may be built into your computer or an external drive. Either type should work equally well.
  2. Make sure you have a CD that can be burned. There are two types of CDs that you can use.
    1. A CD-R (Compact Disc-Recordable) is a Write Once Read Many (WORM) optical medium. This means that once the disk is burned it can not be erased. This type disk is usually used for permanent storage. For example; a music CD, a picture CD, or any other type of data that you want to keep permanently.
    2. A CD-RW (Compact Disc ReWritable) is a rewritable optical disc format. This type of disk can be burned, erase, and then burned again. This type disk is usually used for temporary data storage.
  3. Decide on the type of CD you plan to burn. There are many different types of CDs that can be burned and how you proceed depends on which type you are going to burn. The major types of CD that can be burned are:
    1. Music. This type of CD is the type of CD that is normaly burned for use in a home or automobile CD player.
    2. Data. This type of CD is most often used to store files that can be used by a computer. This type of CD can not be used in a standard home or automobile CD player. They are formatted using the "ISO9660" format, which cannot be read by a standard CD player.
    3. MP3. This is a data CD containing only mp3 compressed music files. Because it is actually an ISO9660 data CD, not all CD players will be able to play it. This type of CD can contain a much larger number of songs than a music CD but can only be played on a computer or CD player specifically designed to play MP3s.
    4. Disk image. A disk image file is a file that contains an exact copy of a disk. The most common type of Disk image is an .ISO image. Disk images are usually used for storing an exact copy of a CD on a computer. By using a computer, one can burn a CD from an .ISO image and create a usable CD.
    5. Ripping. Ripping a CD is the process of taking the audio off of one CD and either storing it on a computer or burning it to a second CD, thereby making a copy of the first CD.

  4. Decide on the software you want to burn your CD with. There are many different programs that are designed to burn CD's. Some are built into the computer's operating system, while others are individual programs. These programs range from very simple to very complex. Some of these are free, while others have to be purchased.

  5. Burn your CD. Burning your CD is as simple as running the software that you are going to burn your CD with, putting a CD into your CD burner, selecting the data to be burned, and then telling the program to burn the CD

It is running very slow . It can't read a little bit old cd\ dvd. When a cd/dvd is inserted system has encounted a problem amd hang up for several minutes .............. and it can't burn disc...

This sounds like a simple problem to fix. You need to get a cd/dvd cleaner disk and place it in the drive. Allow the disk to perform as indicated by the audio instructions included on the disk. All modern lens cleaning disks have the audio instructions that play as the disk is in the machine, so that the customer knows what to do, and in what order to do it in.

After running the disk, get a NEW blank cd, and try to burn some files onto it. If it works right, then that was all that was wrong, if not, then you have corrupted firmware, which is also a relatively easy procedure to fix. Just go to the drive manufacturers website and download the latest firmware fore your drive.

My computer does not burn cd's anymore. it only burns a couple songs then finalizes the disk and ejects it.

It is something to do with the buffering memory ..and it may be caused by multiple devices being running ..and not having enough ram memory ..or just a faulty program ..depending on what you use as burn program ..you may need to reinstall it ..or use another edition ..or another program ..If this is caused by windows burner ..it may be a faulty windows..Just reinstall windows in teh system ..and if after that will do the same it means the writer is damaged and you need another one ..It may be even a mechanical issue on it ..or so ..strange thing is that it does burn a few songs ..
Another issue may be the choice of your format for teh song s..if your aim is to make an mp3 disk with 100 or so songs on it ..and you only burn 12 up t 20 of them and the disk goes to finalizing ..it means your burning is chosen to make audio CD ..and will make tracks on it ..and will not be able to burn them but in the time limit ..of 80 minutes..
use Nero in this case and choose to make a mp3 CD ..instead music one ..When you choose general music CD ..it will always make tracks on it ..so even if the originals are mp3-es it will convert them to regular tracks and will only be 15 tunes on the disk ..

M45-s2653 laptop freezes on restart

when you start having this problem it's normally caused by a critical systems error. worry not.. with a little time on your part we can fix this- this is how-
Go here
using a torrent program ie (utorrent, shareaza, etc) download SPINRITE.exe. Burn this on a disk, the program is written with freedos, but this will not work with 100% of laptops. if freedos won't work then you need to use a program such as PowerISO to burn the disk and make it a bootable image,
after burning the program to disk-
  • insert disk and reboot
  • press any key to boot from cd if asked
  • when you see Prompt, change to cd drive
  • type SPINRITE to start program
  • use recovery option 5
this may take a few hours or a few days depending on the condition of the HDD.

I have used this program to fix computers I've picked up on the side of the road. I would power it on, start to load then go into a loop. after running this program overnight I was able to reboot (after removing disk) and the pc started right up.

Make sure you run a program like Ccleaner (you can get at www.fileippo.com) to clean your registry and junk files after completion. ^_^
