Sony VISTA...operating system can't be found

Where can I download a free VISTA Windows driver recovery/restore program to burn to CD? At Vista screen startup, I have used ESC key to get into Boot Menu. Need to insert a system CD (IDE CD: SONY) to try to repair laptop? Currently using old Dell laptop to access info.

Thanks

Kathryn:
The FAT (File Allocation Table) is corrupted..
Find a freeware program to restore a corrupted FAT.
there are 2 FATs on your HD. A Backup if one gets corrupted.
If it can be restored you can retrieve all your original data. If not then you will have to go to the Sony Website and purchase a set of recovery disks for you particular model. Cost $25-$30
The disks will restore your computer to the original configuration.
All data ie. music, programs, photo's etc will be lost..

Download the Windows Vista startup disk .ISO file. A .ISO file is a "disk image" file, meaning that it is a compressed archive of all the files that would normally be found on a CD contained in one simple file. Microsoft does not provide users with an official Windows Vista startup disk. Because of this, a number of services online provide their own for users free of charge. Download the .ISO (see Below) file to your computer's desktop. http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/download-windows-vista-x64-recovery-disc/ Put a blank DVD in your computer's DVD writer. Burn the .ISO file to a DVD by selecting the "File" menu, clicking on "Open" and locating the .ISO file from your hard drive. Next, click the "Burn" button in your DVD burning software and the files contained in the .ISO will be burned to the disk. Label your Windows Vista startup disk with a pen or marker and keep it in a place where you won't lose it. If your computer is damaged to the point where you would need a startup disk, you won't be able to use your computer to make one. It is very important that you do not lose this disk.

I need to reboot windows xp on my toshiba satellite laptop

The Toshiba Satellite A10-S169 includes several utilities to improve the performance or security of the computer, and to reconfigure the system's settings. Toshiba Satellites running Windows Vista 32-bit and Windows XP come with the Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility, which allows you to create a recovery CD of your system and applications. The recovery CD will allow you to restore your system and its settings in case your hard drive fails.

Click "Start." Click "All Programs." Expand "Hard Disk Recovery Utilities." Click "Recovery Disc Creator." Select "CD" as the type. Check "Recovery and Applications." Insert a CD into the disc drive. Click "Burn." The Toshiba A10-S169 will begin writing the recovery content to the CD. Follow the on-screen prompts to burn your recovery files to disc. Hope this helps.

Toshiba Satellite with no OS will not restore to factory with CD

go to bios settings by pressing F2 on start and choose under the boot device to first boot from cd ..this will make it choose the boot from cd first ...and get into recovery mode if this is the kinda disk you are using ..
Another thing is that many laptops came with recovery cd but this will not have a operation system on it ...in this case you have to use a operation system cd first and after that restore drivers and settings with the recovery cd ..Be sure you use the same operation system it came with ...so in this way you can use the drivers from the recovery one...if you change for example from Vista that came with ...to XP the drivers may not be on that disk if it was on vista from the manufacturer...
so ...if you do not have a bootable disk with operation system just go to pirate bay ..and download an image with the operating system you need and burn it using a program like Nero to make it bootable ...after that just run it first (boot from cd also ) and will work

How to Unlock Windows Vista Password?

I would like to introduce "Windows Login Recovery". It not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password. I Wrote it to an old 128mb USB flash drive to recover windows password. Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm. You can download it from http://www.windowsloginrecovery.com

  8. The Startup Repair attempts to locate and resolve issues with the computer.
  9. If prompted, Do you want to restore your computer using system restore?, click Restore.
  10. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Finish. This screen can vary, dependant on if a problem was found or not.
  11. System restarts.
  12. If the problem was resolved, the computer restarts into Vista.
  13. If the problem was not fixed, the error may present itself again.
  14. Run Startup Repair again.
  15. If Startup Repair runs more than three (3) times, when available, select View advanced options for system recovery and support.
  16. For further troubleshooting, select one of the following options:
    • System Restore
    • Command Prompt
    • Last resort - Recovery Manager. Recovery Manager is not available if accessing WinRE via Vista OS Backup Media DVD

or you can use any software that can repair and recover your windows files.

Best regards

No drivers for wireless lan

Any hardware which Vista can identify and install drivers for will operate correctly after upgrading your computer to Vista (given that the hardware is in working order). If you can't use them, Vista either has an incorrect or no driver for them. I have a printer that Vista erroneously identifies, and installs the wrong driver for. I had to contact HP for the correct driver. I suggest going directly to the websites of the manufacturers of your hardware for the drivers. If you need further help, please let us know.
