Question about Garden

Stihl trimer won't spool up. Aks like fuel problem, but line are good. Also has pre-ignitionwhen RPM's drop. Almost like it's out of time. How can you check the timing on these little gas engines?

There is no way to set the timing. You can only check to see if the key is sheared under the flywheel but I do not think this is your problem.
Look at your muffler or more specifically the tube where the exhaust comes out. There will be one or two small screws holding it in place on the muffler. Remove the screws and pull off the spark arrestor screen under it. You will most likely find that it is blocked with carbon. Take a wire brush or flat screw driver or any other flat tool and scrape off all the carbon deposits until you can see clearly through the screen. Put it back together and your trimmer should be good as new

Hi Esh Weizman
Sounds like you have the fuel lines reversed going to and from the primer bulb.
I will put a picture up for you to see the routing of the fuel lines

I have a 026stihl that won't start

It would be a good idea to check the compression first to make sure there is enough to make the saw run. A person can run in circles trying to figure out an issue if the compression is below 100 psi, there should be about 150 psi. Older Stihl saws are also notorious for cracked fuel lines. Check the fuel line to be sure it is ok, also check the spark.

Have a Stihl chainsaw (011). It dies out at a high rpm. I think I am sucking air from tank area because carb. is good, fuel is good, fuel lines are good at carb. I am looking for something to print out...

Replace the fuel cap. Check the fuel filter (inside the tank hanging on a length of fuel line) for plugging. Also check that length of fuel line for decay or other damage. Hope this helps!

How to replace trimer line

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position. Put cap on and GO CRAZY!

Wind the string on in a clockwise direction.

If it is a duel line then: Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.
