It sounds like you are launching the install from inside windows? If so, it wont work.

You need to reboot the computer and then either press f1-f12 for boot options, or go into the bios and set the boot order to go to the cd first, so it can go to the install windows screen. Right when the computer turns on it should tell you what buttons to push to get to the bios, or boot menu.

The issue is that Vista operates from a SATA driver which is pre-installed with Windows Vista systems.

Only, XP doesn't work from a SATA driver and will not allow you to install.

Don't cry! Dry your eyes!

There is a solution!

When you boot your computer enter into your BIOS and disable the SATA driver.

Now, you SHOULD be able to install Windows XP.

(However, I would highly recommend that you find someone you know that has a Windows 7 RC disk (I have a few)and try it on for size, if you can find it. It is no longer availible for free on Windows website, but if you get it you have it to try on for size until March of 2010 and then it slowly starts to fade away until you buy a fresh copy or go to another OS)

Reboot

To Reboot a computer is to turn it off, wait at least 20 seconds, then turn it back on.

A.If you're thinking of Reboot, as to reinstall the Operating System, you use a Restoration Disk, (sometimes listed as Recovery Disk), insert it in your CD/DVD drive, and restart your computer.
(Just press the CTRL, ALT and Delete keys AT THE SAME TIME.
Not shouting. Windows XP and Windows Vista are examples of an Operating System)

B.If you're trying to install an Operating System, from a CD disk that you bought, I suggest you go into BIOS Setup, and in Boot Order, change the first boot device to CDROM. Insert the CD disk in your CD/DVD drive, and restart the computer.

If you buy a Full Installation CD disk, as listed above, you have to change the Boot Order.
For example:
1.You have Windows XP on your computer now. It has problems, and doesn't work correctly. Instead of getting the Restoration Disk from your computer manufacturer, you decided to just buy a genuine copy of Windows XP, and install it. (This is a Full Installation Disk)

The Windows XP you have installed now, will not let the one you bought install over it, by just putting the disk in the drive. Change the first boot device, in Boot Order to CDROM, and it will. The Windows XP you have now, will 'see' the Windows XP you're trying to install, as just the same version. You have to install a better version of Windows, in order for it to write over what is installed.
Such as Windows Vista.

2.You have Windows Vista on your computer, and are not happy with it. You would like to put Windows XP on instead. Windows XP is considered a lesser version, and Vista won't let it write over it.
Go to BIOS Setup, change the first boot device in Boot Order, to CDROM, and it will.

I my laptop cant boot windows 7 and xp together !

Hi,
Since you have installed XP after installing windows 7 & vista, you have erased the boot manager of vista. To get it back, just download & install Vista Boot Pro from http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/VistaBootPRO.shtml

Cant install windows xp

You Need To Boot From The XP CDrom...
Press Power Button To Boot, Hold Down F-12, Choose To Boot From CDROM, Go Through The Windows Setup Process, Remove Vista (delete it), then Format and Install XP...

Your 7520 can use the drivers from another acer model, for instance, try aspire 3000, or 5000 drivers.. or try another model...
If it's not the correct one, it will not install and throw up an error telling you it is incompatable and not going to install....

Win vista uninstall

Put your window XP disk into the Disk drive. Start up your computer. When it asks you what Drive you want to install it on select C:\ (where Vista is) Say yes to deleting the current Operating System and follow the instructions from there.

You did say you wanted to Uninstall Vista!

If you mean Dual Boot Vista and XP, then you will need to create a Logical Partition of about 10 Gb to install XP on and when asked where to install select this partition. But note that XP will wipe the Boot sector clean of all other Operating Systems which means that if you want to Dual boot then you will have to reinstall Vista again to get Dual Boot functionality.
