Hi, I replaced the right side ignitor module and now the ignitors spark vigorously and the burners light but the ignitors won't spot sparking and sometimes keep sparking several seconds after I turn off the control. Any thoughts?

I self cleand the oven with the racks in, then I read instructions to not leave them in. Now they won't slide in or out easily, therefor I burn myself everytime I have to reach in the get something out.

To be honest, i havent done a lot on gas burners, but from what you have told me, it sounds like the ignitor switch is faulty. it should stop once you release it.

There are a few things to check for. Make sure the electrode ( the small metal piece that the spark comes off from ) is clean and the holes in the burner are clean, use a pin or paper clip to clean out the burner holes and NOT a tooth pick as these can break off and make things worse. The next thing to check for are theignition switches under the surface control knobs, the switches can twist and break and keep the spark module on and the spark keeps "clicking" even when the burner is light. If every thing looks good, you may have a bad spark module, replace it. Sometimes cleaning can get moisture into the surface switches, try drying them with an hair dryer to see of this will help.

thanks.keep updated and please do accept the solution.

Right side burner will not ignite. Pilot flame is on.

Hello Paul;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You did not provide a model number or your range. This is located on a metal tag either on the face of the oven after you open the door, or on the side of the door.

Each burner probably has a individual flow control valve to adjust the flame. This is a low probably, but still could be the problem.

Let's assume you can light the bad burner with a match:

You either have individual spark ignitors at each burner, or a multi-spark module in the upper left top back of your range. This controls all 4 burners.

Go into the following website, put in your model number and find your individual burner ignitor or the spark module. Record the part number and going into the web and search the part. Do not purchase from Sears unless you want to pay 2 or 3 times the price. Also, consider used parts.

Water Filters Lawn Garden Appliance Parts

This is a easy fix if you have basic tools. Turn the gas supply off. Then turn on the burners to bleed the system from gas. Then kill the power to the range - circuit breaker or electrical cord before you begin the work.

I have an electrolux EOG6330 gas oven and when I light the grill the igniter continues to spark, the only wayto stop it,is to turn the grill off.Any body know what causes it and how to sort it?

Hello dishboy,

There are 2 possibilites causing that

1) The electrode(spark plug) for the grill is is built up with a bunch of grime and not telling the spark module the burner is lit and turn off the spark. The electrode could be cleaned with the green srubby side if a kitchen sponge,or relpaced.

2) The electrode is telling the spark module to turn off but the spark module isn't responding, to turn off the spark. The spark module would need to be replaced

I hope this helps,

Gene

Hi there. there is no spark to ignite the gas in oven.

You will need to replace the spark module if you don't hear any clicking, or there is no spark present when trying to ignite the gas.

To test the Spark Module:
When properly operating, the spark module repeatedly produces a spark at the ignitor accompanied by a sharp snapping sound.
  1. Turn off gas and power supply to unit.
  2. Check wiring diagram to verify all terminals and wire connections are correct and tight with no cuts in the wiring.
  3. Prepare to measure voltage on spark module from terminal L to N.
  4. Turn power supply back on.
  5. Turn top burner to LITE position.
  6. If no voltage is present on the meter, this will indicate the electrical circuit is interrupted before the spark module
  7. If voltage is present, then check ignitor.
  8. If ignitors are ok; then replace spark module.
To access the Spark Module:
  1. Turn off electrical power and gas to the range.
  2. Disconnect gas and power from unit.
  3. Remove screws securing top surface burners.
  4. Remove surface burner and disconnect spark ignitor wire from surface burner.
  5. Raise and remove maintop from unit.
  6. Remove screws securing spark module bracket.
  7. Disconnect wire terminals from spark module.
  8. Replace and reassemble in reverse order.

Kenmore gas oven won't light. The pilot light is on but no gas. What do I do?

Put a torch on the probe. If the flame comes on them the thermocouple is weak.If nothing at all replace the safety valve. That is if you have a standing pilot. If you pilot is an electric one then it should be so bright it is hard to look at but if it is dim orange it is weak.

VDSC 365-40, Suspected right side ignitor box bad. Repairman came, obviously didn't know Viking, tore into unit and confirmed bad ignitor box. Estimated $450 to repair. I put in new box myself. Works...

You have to identify the thermocouple by the flame. Some units run sparks constantly to insure that tha flame stays lit. If you see the thermocouple bulb by the flame it is bad and needs replaced (he may have bypassed it also let me know)

It would be helpful if you have a multi meter. Sorry you are having trouble with the repair man. I hope I can talk you through this but if he has made a mess it could be 10 times more work for you. Txtooltime@aol.com

Ignitor on Frigidaire model PLCS389DCC is not working. How can I replace it.

There are a couple of ways you can resolve this issue, depending on what isn't working. As it's difficult to determine by the brief description of the problem you're having, I can't tell if the main spark (ignitor) module is the faulty component, or if you need to replace a specific ignitor/orrifice assembly for one or more burners.

If none of the top surface burners are lighting when you turn them on, it is most likely the spark module that needs to be replaced. If it's only one burner that is not lighting, then you'll need to replace that burner's ignitor/orrifice assembly.

To get at these components, all you need to do is lift up the top range surface to expose the burner assemblies and the spark module. Be sure to turn off the gas line and unplug the range from the electric outlet to prevent any shock hazard, etc. Removal and replacement can be done with simple hand tools and by simply unplugging the electrical plug on the spark module.

Here's a exploded line drawing showing the components, part numbers, and a price list as well. You can order the part(s) needed online as well.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Whirlpool 465. The top range burners will not ignite. I can hear and smell the gas. The oven burner works fine. Do I need to replace an ignitor for the range?

The bake is seperate from the burner ignition system. You may need a new spark module for the top burners. All burners should spark at the same time even if you are only trying to lite one burner.

Ignitor dose not spark on one burner

Hi. these ignitors are really easy to diagnose. all to do is inspect the wires leading from the control to the ignitor/burner assembly. if the wires are in good condition and, you know for sure that your control is fine. simply replace the failed ignitor.

Sf195lehz5 free standing gas oven,

Check both gas valve solonoids for 216 ohms [blue broiler wire to the orange common and red oven wire to orange common] both must be ok.

Check oven temp sensor for 1080 ohms.

If above are ok then the problem is either the spark module or the control board.

Since the gas valve was not opening and there was not ignitor sound I replaced the spark module for about $90. You have a 50-50 chance of being right.

My range is relitively new and I'm haveing an oven light problem which I traced to the control board so I may replaced this board to for about $200.
