Question about Lexmark X5150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Lexmark 5250 printer

While I was printing a document, I ran out of paper; I grabbed a stack of paper and put it in the holder. The printer grabbed the entire stack of paper. Now I get a message to clear the paper jam. There is no paper jam, but the wheel that grabs paper seems stuck.

This printer will not accept the paper and says there is a paper jam. It is like the wheels are dusty and the paper slips. How can I fix this?

->Clear any loose paper from the paper tray. This will help you locate the jam. You will find it either in front, near the paper tray, or in the rear.

->To clear a paper jam near the paper tray, grip the paper and pull it firmly but gently from the printer. If you find a stack of papers jammed, grab from the middle of the stack and pull.

->For a rear jam, remove the back of the printer. When you find a free edge on the paper, grip it firmly and pull it out.

->Replace the back cover. Press the "Resume" button or turn off the printer, and then turn it back on. Your settings should reset.

Cause
Any of the following issues can cause this issue:

  • The paper trays are empty or overloaded.
  • The paper is fold over.
  • The shiny side of the paper is not loaded in the tray face down. Photo paper; load the rough side of the paper facing up.
  • The paper is too smooth for the product.
  • The paper might not be occupied with the feed rollers.
  • The paper width guide is pressed against the paper stack too firmly.
  • The paper tray is not entirely inserted into the printer.
  • The paper setting in the print driver does not match the paper loaded in the paper tray.
  • The rubber paper-feed rollers are dirty.

Check the media and print settings

a) While the printer is on, remove the power cord from the back of the printer, wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord into the back of the printer.

b) If the printer is not already on, turn it on by pushing the power button. Swap any paper that is ripped, dusty, wrinkled, or bent. If the paper is coiled flatten the paper by gently bending it in the opposite direction of the curl or swap the paper.

c) Verify that all the paper is the same size and type.

d) Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges

e) Verify that the stack of paper to be loaded in the unit contains between 10 and 25 sheets of paper.

f) Insert the stack of paper into the printer and then gently push the paper guides snugly against the paper.

g) Change the paper settings in the print driver. The paper settings in the print driver must match the paper settings for at least one of the installed paper in the trays.

  • Open a document by an application in which it was created.
  • Press File
  • Press Print
  • Press properties. The Printer Properties dialog box will come up.
  • Press the Paper Quality tab.
  • In the drop-down menu, select the size of the paper loaded in the paper tray.
  • In the Type drop-down menu; select the type of paper loaded in the paper tray. Press ok.
  • On the Print dialog box, press ok to print the document.
  • Try print again.

If the issue is not solved, try next steps

  • Switch off the product and unplug the power cable.
  • Open the access door to access to the rollers.
  • Clean the rubber rollers with a fur-free cloth lightly moistened with water.
  • Make sure that any papers that rest on the input tray, which are located at the back of the roller are cleaned. Mop with clean cotton moisten with water, might be required to reach these rollers.
  • Close the access door and plug in the power cable.
  • Try print once again.

Lexmark 5400 series printer won't grab paper for printing

    Hi,

Whenever the printer doesn't pulls the paper please pull the pack of papers, browse through the papers with your finger and put them back gently. If it doesn't work it means the wheels that pull the paper are worn and you need to replace them.

For the second problem, this is not a printer problem but a software problem, please specify which software do you use so we can help you, as each software has individual options to print multiple pages. It will also be more logical to post the problem in the specific software area.

    Good luck,

    Hi there,

Well first of all you can try to reset your printer -
    Turn off printer

Press and hold 'stop' 'maintenance' and 'power'
    buttons for about 10 seconds.

A message will appear on the screen.
power off and back on for reset.

Try the following steps to clear any jam -

    1. Clear any loose paper from the paper tray. This will help you locate the jam. You will find it either in front, near the paper tray, or in the rear.
    2. To clear a paper jam near the paper tray, grip the paper and pull it firmly but gently from the printer. If you find a stack of papers jammed, grab from the middle of the stack and pull.
    3. For a rear jam, remove the back of the printer. When you find a free edge on the paper, grip it firmly and pull it out.

Paper feed grabs more than one sheet

Try fanning your paper several times. Take that nice neat pile of paper in your hands and wiggle it so that your thumb fans through the edge of the whole stack. Do this on both edges so that the stack of paper is slightly less perfect. You can also gently fold the whole stack slightly in both directions. Do this every time you add fresh paper. It should only take a few seconds.
