Question about Philips MS3250C 32" TV

Philips MS3250C 32" SHUTS DOWN

When first turning on tv, screen will have wavy line approx 2-3 inches down each side and than will shut off, led still on on front panel. Turn on off several times and will finally work fine. monitored B+ and it goes from 128 to 140Vdc when it shut down. Does this sound like a regulator proble? Do you have a good part #, ic # and/or location. Thanks

Re: Philips MS3250C 32" SHUTS DOWN

Use an ESR meter for in-circuit capacitor check....notorious
are the 47mf / 25v and 50v electrolytics in power circuits.....
regulator, horizontal et al ......start-up problems = turning on
after several tries......charge the cap enough to run.........T.

Philips TV model 32PT6441/37b turns on but goes blue screen and shuts off after 2 min. LED flashes 11 times then 1. Turning off the TV fixes it for awhile then it starts up again.

White horzontal lines on the top of screen

Typical symptom of a faulty screen voltage capacitor. You'd need a schematic to locate the cap and then change it out.

A line across the screen means a loss of vertical sweep. This could be as simple as an IC or as difficult as a deflection yoke. These are not do it yourself repairs.

Green Screen with some lines lines are called retrace lines. it is due to maybe dry soldered or no green drive signal. This problem can be fixed by complete soldering in crt board. 1 green video supply absent 2 loose contact in green skt in crt board 3 crt board loose 4 no green drive signal.

If the set runs at all, your flyback and output transistor are good. If the set shuts down after a few seconds and the sides are wavy, it usually means that the main B+ in your power supply is too high and not regulating properly. I do not know what kind of power supply that model uses, but if has an old-style STR regulator (like the STR30130) then it is probably shorted, and if the set uses a switching power supply then look for an open or leaky electrolytic cap on the primary side. If the power supply is working correctly and the set shuts down, check for an open safety cap (the large 1.6 - 2Kv cap connected to the collector of the horizontal output transistor).

21PT3324/71 Philips TV wont stay on

Try this: On the flyback transformer, raise the SCREEN voltage. There are 2 controld on the flyback - the top one is FOCUS and the bottom one is SCREEN. As the tube ages its emission decreases, and the computer monitors the tube's emission. When the emission gets to be too low, the computer shuts the set down. This is exactly like IK blanking in Sony sets, except Sony blanks the video and Philips shuts the set off. To set the screen voltage properly, turn the brightness and contrast to 0, raise the screen voltage until you see the white retrace lines in the picture, and then back down on the screen voltage until just past the point where the retrace lines are gone. Reset your brightness and contrast and the set should play fine.
