I cannot play dvd's with power dvd dx-display output error

I have recently restored a dell laptop and installed power dvd dx 8 with original disc. When I try to play a movie, it gives me an error message about my display output configurations. I have tried reinstalling program. That did not help. I have tried using WMP , but it always defaults to power dvd to play dvd. When I uninstall power dvd to use WMP, WMP will not recognize DVD. What should I do?

Try going to the Dell webpage to see if there are any updates for the software. It should be found under the support for my system link. Reason I say Dell rather than Cyberlink website is that Dell uses a "special" version bundled in their systems. There is probably an update required or it is missing the proper codecs to run. Hope this helps.

The Blu-ray Disc Requires a Blu-ray 3D Player connected to a 3D display

Generally, most blu-ray display issues can be resolve fairly simply. Uninstall POWERDVD (Verions 8.2 or higher required for Blu-Ray play), then re-install the most current video driver from support.dell.com, then the most current audio driver, then re-install Power DVD. rebooting after each install, this normally solves most blu-ray SW issues

How to delete operating system .

When deleting the operating system you have to have a restore disc or the master disc for an Operating System to be re-installed again. You will then have to insert the Operating System disc in the drive and then restart select boot from CD or DVD whichever you have on your lap top then you will have to format the drive with this disc it all should just do it for you select complete install. This will wipe files currently on the hard drive and enable you to restore your machine back to its original condition as you purchased it.
You computer should be by default to boot from CD ROM first boot. If not get to the BIOS press F2 when the system first boots it will take you to the BIOS then set in the BOOT order as first boot being CD or DVD first boot and hard disc second boot. Then restart and have the Operating System Disc in. If you do not have an operating system disc that came with your computer you can get one from Dell just order it and use this disc. Do not try to install just the basic Windows because Dell has all of their drivers installed on their restore discs and you will play heck trying to get the drivers. Unless you have a legal copy of Win 7 go ahead and go for it then. Making sure to be online when installing Win 7 so that it can seek driver files during the installation.
I hope this assisted you. Thanks for using FixYa for all your questions. John

Hi, you may have dual monitors activated which is a possible reason for the dvd not being playable. try holding down the fn key in the bottom corner of your keyboard and then tapping the f7 key. if your screen goes black, tap it again. you are cycling the display options. play around with tapping that key and starting the program. you may also right click the desktop>personalize>display settings, and make sure that your display is 32 bit and utilizing the maximum number of pixels it can. if you are using windows vista basic or business, you may need to download DVD codecs from microsoft or and affiliate's website.

yes you do have some pictures or images but here is the solution of your problem, actually PowerDVD have again another support to display your video, your lack is plug-ins, or maybe you are using the unregistered PowerDVD DX, if yes, find another registered one... Another thing is you have to install a CODEC PACK from this site to support your WIndows Media Player, all of them, and etc... at this site: http://www.k-lite.com/ Good luck!

Trying to restore Dell Inspiron 1501 to factory settings.

don't hit ctrl, f11 instead hit F8 and then go into Dell Factory Image Restore, that will wipe, format and reinstall all the factory software that's stored on the Recovery Drive (usually the D: drive) good luck.
