I have an Intel D845EPI/D845GVSR Motherboard with 512MB PC266 Hynix DDR1 RAM. When i switch on my PC, the system starts but, fails to display even the first screen that it is supposed to display...

Couple of items to try. First disconnect everything except the power and the CPU. Does it give you a beep code?

If not your either have a bad power supply, motherboard, or cpu. (Only if everything else is disconnected.)

Second, If you did get the beep code then put the memory in and see if the system starts to boot. (Try without the screen connected first. If it acts like is going to start turn it off, plug in the mouse, keyboard, and monitor and try again.) ** I have seen where an add on video card would keep the computer from starting so try with the on board video first.**

Third, start adding one extra piece at a time starting with the hard drive.

Let me know if this helps or not.

845gvsr startup problem

Try changing the CMOS Battery, Are you sure you are putting the jumper on the right pins, what happens if you save and exit bios without changing the jumper back, you may be resetting the CMOS with the jumper. does the clock keep accurate time if you leave the jumper on so you can get into the BIOS after turning PC off unplugging power then plug back in and check time in BIOS, if it is not keeping time, you may have a bad battery

Intel D845EPI Motherboard

I have been asked to clarify my problem, so I'll do that as brief as I can.

The Motherboard CPU Fan starts when the Power Switch pins are shorted together with a screwdriver.

Green lights appear on the Motherboard, but there is NO Screen on the Monitor, No Bios Screen, No Nothing !!!

It stays this way until the Power is removed from the Motherboard.

I hope that this clarifies my problem with this Motherboard for Colliewob. Any suggestions ???

That green light indicates that the board is getting power. You should remove any excess components from the board, especially expansion cards like modems. Check to ensure the front panel header connections are properly connected (like the power switch, etc).

Lastly, ensure that all of the screws are in properly, so that the board isn't shorting out. As a troubleshooting step, you may try resetting the BIOS with the CMOS jumper to see whether a rogue setting may have caused the board not to power up.
