Re: d530 remove processor

Hi, theres no way im afraid for testing processors without having another motherboard to test it in.
If you take out the processor and resit it in the motherboard and replace the heatsink and fan, with new thermal grease and try it,
Do not switch on the pc at any time without the heatsink on as it will destroy the cpu as they heat up very fast, and always replace the thermal paste on the cpu/heatsink whenever you take off the heatsink,,
Have a nice christmas

Dear Sir sir i have hp desktiop pc and i have

You need to remove the Heatsink from the CPU and re apply heatsink compound to both the CPU and the heatsink then replace the heatsink onto the CPU. the reason for the overheating and shutdown is that the connection between the heatsink and the CPU has become "Aged" and no longer transfers the heat like it should

Hp d530s problem restarts by itself (Windows XP Pro. I tried different hard drive, still same. The CPU and the power supply are very hot. The fan makes noise sometimes. What could be the problem? Thanks!

Scan the system for viruses. If no virus found check ur power options settings in control panel. Still u experience the same problem just uninstall anti-virus program from ur pc. This will fix ur problem mostly.

CPU FAN SPEED IN HP Compaq d530 Small Form Factor Desktop PC

The fan/heat sink on these models get plugged with dust very easily, use an air compressor or can of air to blow the dust out of the heat sink and fan. In extreme cases the thermal paste gets dried out and needs to be re-applied to properly cool the processor.

HP Compaq d530

it all depends on the number of flashes , pause, repeat.
Since the problem did not indicate any beeps her is the following info

Power LED blinks RED 2 times, one every second, followed by a
2-second pause. = Processor Thermal Protection Activated

3 blinks 1 second apart = Processor not installed (not an indicator for a bad processor).

4 blinks 1 second apart .= Power Failure (power supply is overloaded)

Other possibilities are:
5 blinks 1 second apart No memory
6 blinks 1 second apart No graphics
7 blinks 1 second apart System board failure (detected prior to video)
8 blinks 1 second apart Invalid ROM

HP D530 SFF, PSU replacement

You need to find out the motherboard make or a serial number. As this may have a slocket type fitted processor(on it's side) and makes you limited with fan types etc.
