That is the sad truth about Vista, manufacturers are either slow at providing support for older equipement or ignoring them altogether. Panasonic has not upgraded the software for that camera since 2003. You best solution would be to create a second partition on your computer and install Windows XP in a dual boot configuration, but that would cause problems as your should do it the other way around (install XP then Vista). Or you could buy a cheap XP computer (a used one or value one). Or you could upgrade to a newer camera.

Although you may luck out downloading software for a newer camera from panasonic, maybe this driver might work: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/capture/ComMass.zip

Does the camera have firewire? Did you try connecting it that was?

Nothing is free, but XP can be had for under $70 these days if not cheaper. Your system probably came with recovery DVDs, make sure you have those before doing anything since that is how you would return to Vista once you upgrade to a newer camera. Then backup all your data to DVDs or an external or secondary hard drive. Once you are ready then load XP according to the instructions (boot to the CD and follow the on screen instructions). Do all the Windows updates and get all the missing drivers in device manager. It could be tricky to get all your drivers since your system was probably designed for Vista but if you go to the websites of the individual device manufacturers you should be able to find network, sound, and video drivers for XP. Good luck!

You can't go to WIN XP if WIN vista is installed. A way to use again WinXP at the same PC is to use another hard disk as "master" and do windows XP installation on it. Depending on your Bios features you can select the mode from which hard disk PC starts ,so when you want to use your camcorder select to boot from "XP installed disk" otherwise boot from your current "Vista Installed" disk. I hope your computer is a desktop and there is space for two Hard disks to be synhronous connected.

The other way is to low format your HD and install a new fresh Win XP on this.

Yes panasonic is yet to release its software compatiable to vista.

it will be coming in few months or so. but i suggest you to install another operating system else use some friends system for transfering files to your system.

that will be better i guess.

hey hey.. i said you that right..

your model in specific is not compatiable with vista..

so you have no choice that you should opt for another operating system. XP prof is avilable in torrentz for free of cost. you can download it and install it in your system,., by this way your system can detect the device..

and hence please note brother.. your device in specific has not software compatiable for vista.. so dont dream for craking it and creating a new software..

we experts here can suggest you a solution. cant make a software for you right..

and hence start your process of installing XP in your system.. that is the only fix for you..

i also bet you.. XP is 100 times better than VISTA... ....

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jan 31, 2008

you can download it from torrentz.. mnay free XP copies are there in torrentz..

make yu wil have to loose any one partition of your system to install XP in it.. and so back up the files in a drive and move ahead

  • dewan nafees ahmed Feb 05, 2008

    did the solution work?

  • dewan nafees ahmed Feb 07, 2008

    what happened?

    @machine

neither me nor any of my friends have spent a penny for getting windows XP or any of the sotware...we get all of them in torrentz..

torrentz is not illegal.. but the material what you get in is mostly illlegal. and hence only i dint give any download link here.. because we are allowed to give illegal links..

if i have to pay money for getting XP i would have lost all my dads property in getting all versions of XP itself..

everything is at ur finger tips man.. you just need to search it out...try making money.. dont stop spending money.. :)

Hello: I have a Panasonic PV-DV202-K Digital Video Camcorder. Is there a driver that I can download that works with windows 7...Robert

By your phrasing I am assuming you have a driver for a legacy OS such as windows 9X/2K/XP/Vista?
You can use these drivers in windows 7, install them like you would any other driver. You can also run things in compatability mode.

My windows 7 laptop does not recognize my Panasonic Mini DV Camcorder PV-GS39 and therefore cannot capture video any ideas?

You are going to have to check that your firewire is being seen by windows 7 first of all. If not you will need to rectify that.
When you do get it to recognize it, here is a link for an update to the program that came with your camcorder for it to work with Windows Vista but it should also work for Windows 7.

I am unable to connect my Panasonic PV GS150 handycam and Vista business edition running laptop using a USB cable. Do I need driver S/W?

You will need to install the USB driver from your software(disc) to your vista.

and make sure the computer is recognizing your camera, check under control panel and device managers list if your product is listed under imaging devices, but chances are you might be having compatibility issues since it doesnt have an updater for Vista, hope this help. pls dont forget to rate. Thanks!!

My Hitachi VM H710A plays just fine, and the picture looks fine. But when it playsback footage or records footage, five to ten seconds later, it stops abruptly, and flashes the word "TAPE". First thing I must add, is that I was using a prerecorded videotape, and was testing it from the beginning of the cassette and the middle of the cassette. I thought maybe the heads were dirty, and so I cleaned them using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. I cleaned the head drum with a piece of paper soaked with rubbing alcohol so that I wouldn't get any fibres in the heads. I waited for it to dry and then I put a cleaning cassette inside. To which, it still stopped abruptly five to ten seconds in during playback. I then decided to look at the manual of the camcorder and see the symptom. It says that due to temperature changes that it might cause this symptom. I placed it in a cool room and left it there all day and checked on it, and the camcorder is still doing the same thing as before hand. Then another cause said that it might sense some moisture. I made sure that the camcorder was dry externally and internally, and yet still, same problem. Thats when I decided to take it apart and look inside to see if there was anything odd inside the camcorder causing it to function the way it does. The belt seemed to be working fine, and there was no missing parts. The tracking poles and path alignment was fine, and not loose. Everything simply seemed just fine. So I am unsure as to why my camcorder is operating like this.
