Serpentine belt shreds often. The fan wiggles very slightly when running. It's fine when engine is shut down. could it be that the crankshaft pulley needs to be replaced?
Might also check the various pulley for alignment they all should be in the same plane so that the belt runs straight. I had one on the power steering pump which had crept forward on the shaft and was running the belt off the other pullies and shredding it.
Wth the engine off, try wiggling all the pulleys one by one. Any that have excess play need to be replaced or the component they are attached to needs replacement. After checking, remove the belt and check again for smooth turning. any roughness in a bearing is also unacceptable. Crank pulley is attached to crankshaft so it will not turn, but make sure the bolts that hold any extension pulley on the balancer are tight.
Crank pulley is generally the last thing that will give you a problem but should be checked along with all others.
I'd be more inclined to check that idler pulleys and alternator bearings are okay before looking at crank pulley. Take off the belt and give them a good wiggle and spin.
