I wish to add more RAM to my laptop but cannot get cover openbehi

I wish to add more RAM to my laptop but cannot get the cover open even after taking out all the screws. The laptop is an ACER Aspire 5315 series model no.ICL50. I'm making the assumption that the memory port(?)is somewhere behind the larger of the 2 base covers.

The ram is under a base cover and the cover is usually indicated by small rectangles imprinted in the plastic. I will send you the link to the service manual that will show everything you need to know about your laptop.
The ram, wireless card, heat-sink and processor are all under the largest of the panels. The smaller panel is where the hard drive lives and then there is the battery.

Yes, it is the largest panel under the laptop, I have a couple of Acer laptops. Sometimes even if all the screws are out, it will feel like you are going to snap something if you pull any harder. As long as you are careful, I use a small flat screwdriver to gently lift the snaps around the cover. Here is a photo of your laptop with that cover removed, notice the ram at the bottom of the picture. http://www.cyfinity.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/aspire5315wrongmove.jpg

You are in the right location. you will have to pry gently to get it open. After that it is easy:

Installing memory
Follow these steps to install memory:
1 Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adapter (if connected) and remove
the battery pack. Then turn the computer over to access its base.
2 Remove the screws from the memory cover; then lift up and remove the
memory cover.
3 (a) Insert the memory module diagonally into the slot, then (b) gently press
it down until it clicks into place.
4 Replace the memory cover and secure it with the screw.
5 Reinstall the battery pack, and reconnect the AC adapter.
6 Turn on the computer.
The computer automatically detects and reconfigures the total memory size.
Please consult a qualified technician or contact your local Acer dealer.

I found it in the manuel on page 72 on the acer website
http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/manuals/acer/0000/userguides/AS_5710_5710Z_5310_EN_OLM_0430.pdf

I hope this helps you, let me know how it goes and if you have any more questions.

How do i add a ram memory to my labtop, explain please

It depends on what model of laptop you have. Typicly there is a plastic cover that you remove from the bottom of the laptop to expose your ram dimms (spots to add ram). In some cases both spots will allready have ram in them, in this case you will need to buy higher capacity ram like a 2 or 4 gig stick. I like to order my ram from newegg.com but if you have no idea what you are doing you can take out the ram and take it to a place like best buy and tell them you need higher capacity ram like "this". They will tell you what kind of ram it is and you can either buy it from them, or go home and get it cheaper online.

How do i open the case to add ram e.t.c.... zx6961 series

You were right by removing the support bar, that's the first step. Now all you have to do is use a small flat head screw driver and pry open the case on the edge between the black and silver plastic. Don't get to aggressive, take your time going all the way around, it should just pop off. Have fun.

I purchased 1 g of memory to add to my laptop. I am not able to do anything with the laptop due to the lack of memory. I can't afford to have someone add the memory and must do it myself. What can you do...

It's easy to add the memory yourself. Memory has a small compartment in the middle, you only have to unscew one screw to have access to it, the screw circled in the image below. When you put the memory in you have to put it to a 45 degree angle and press it down until it clicks in.

Then you close the cover and start the laptop. If you get a beep it means the momery is not installed properly.

I wish to upgrade the ram to 2 or 3 gb. I understand there are 4 slots with 1 gb fitted.is it ok to add a 1 or 2GB to 1 slot? How do I get the case open? I am 72 so fairly simple help is needed!!

Please, provide the make and model of your laptop to ensure the proper solution to your question. Some model are able to take more RAM than others, so it would be wise to check your motherboard's capacity before deciding how much RAM you need.

I have an Acer AO532h-2527 and would like to add add. RAM with a memory stick. Irrespective of warranty issues, how might I go about this?

Have you tried www.crucial.com? This a good source for quality ram and they will check your system based on the make/model. They have an automatic scan tool which will help to identify your system. Most laptops have bottom access cover to remove for memory, others are hidden under the keyboard. Your system manual should provide this instruction, as this is a consumer serviceable upgrade and would not usually affect warranty.

Add more ram

hi-
To add ram - look on the back of the lap top. You will see some screws that are holding down a little door. There may be two of these. Remove the screws on the ram cover and remove ram cover

1- press the buttons on the sides of the ram chip, and then it will pop up and towards you.
2- 2- pull this ram upwards and out
3- from there, you can take out the other chip, if there is one, or you can start installing.
4- installing the new ram chips is just as easy
5- line up the slots in the chip, then push it in as far as you can without breaking it.
6- then push it down so that you hear it click on both sides, and doesn't budge.
7- Repeat using the top chip.
This should do it –
I hope it helps- please rate me – thanks

There should be two or three small covers on the bottom of your laptop. One covers the harddrive, one covers the memory slots and a possible third cover will cover the wireless card.

How can add 1gb memory on my Flybook VM.Thankyou

It seems that you will need to contact the manf. directly for this. I am assuming it is not just a matter of opening a door to upgrade the RAM, most likely have to take the entire thing apart.

"Hello, just letting everyone know, if the system is disassembled outside of the service center, your warranty can no longer be covered.
If anyone needs a service upgrade or RAM upgrade, just contact Flybook techncal support. Email is: nasupport@flybook.com"
