I have a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe MB I'm running XP SP3. I've had this drive only a few weeks and I was going to replace a smaller drive, which I copied to the WD drive. I ran with this drive until I restarted the PC and the drive has not worked since.

I have tried installing windows again and when booting the BIOS shows the drive but when its time to install the SATA (SCSI) drivers windows install doesn't see the drive. I was hoping for a repair utility. I downloaded a Diag utility from WD an d built a bootable CD but it blows up when it loads.

It was formatted at one time but now windows does not see the drive, only the SATA controller it shows 0 MB.

I tried switching SATA ports and same results. Don't have another PC. I'm sending it to WD for a replacement.

    Thanks
    Steve

In the management window on the left side, click on disk management, you should find the drive there, have a look there what it says there, you could email me a picture or attach one here, anyway my email is

Drive is probably faulty, try reconnecting the drive to another computer or to another sata port and see if it shows 0M on another port and 0M on another computer. If it does show 0M on both, the drive is definitely faulty.

warranty check and data recovery services.

Doesn't see entire 3TB drives

No. There is a 2TB MBR (Master Boot Record) in Windows.

It needs to formatted / partitioned if new. Type diskmgmt.msc in Search / Run and use the hard drive setup wizard. Highlight the drive and use the refresh icon to initiate wiazard.

You may even have to deleted partition and start from begging. This will cuase data loss. Windows 7 and newer has a dynamic drive option to expand if the partition if not active with the OS.

Hi
Have you tried to go into your cmos settings and enable the settings to detect your cd rom
You should be able to use a external cd rom connected through your USB port to load and re-install windows and your drivers if you have the motherboard cd.
The problem is your limited in your options to work from the hard drive but a disk also gives you the option to repair the filing system and replace missing files.

The problem with installing windows on one pc and it not working on another pc is the motherboards are not compatible, and the configuration has to be similar or the same so the hard drive can boot up and communicate between the hardware and software.

Your options are use a CD rom, change your MB or google your problem and hope someone else was able to resolve this issue.

Cheers

Replaced m/b battery, lost bootup, I think because i can't find a way to enable sata drives. how enable sata drives.

Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K8N-Neo4-F--PCB-1-0-.html#?div=Manual

Here you also find driveres for download.

Here is a youtube video that shows how:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhKXhu1LFiA

Select first the sata configure the hard drive with windows on
has to be the first one it boots from.

It have probably been added to second when you have reset the bios
And it will not boot.

Hope this will help you.

Have an hp pavillion ze2000 that will only detect the hard drive intermittently.Bios will sometimes show the drive and windows will boot. Suddenly windows will BSOD and I have the problem with bios...

First reseat the drive firmly, and see if there is any difference. It is amazing the difference a millimeter will make in getting that driver to stay detected. If reseating does no good, then the MB connection itself is suspect

Try setting the first boot device as the device with the boot sector on it.

Toshiba 2 gb flash drive showing 0 disk space

You can only format these drives in mode FAT16 or FAT32.
Try to format it in FAT32 mode and let Windows choose the default sectors for you. This is the better solution.
As I can see, the operating system recognise your drive that mean the correct driver was loaded.
After a new format whith the correct params if your flash drive shows the same thing 0 disk space 0 disk space used, your drive is DEAD.
It happens if you had unplug your flash drive whithout stoping it by cliking on the icon in the notification window (near the clock), the icon is mini drive whith a green arrow. Allways unplug the USB devices by this because you have the +5 voltage on this connector and if you don't do this an arcking effect happens betwen your device and the connector.
