Re: nav cam 6400

Well one thing is certain after reading all the problems involving this Evesham GPS receiver sure makes me aware that I will look at a lot of other brands before I buy any GPS system.

My tomtom go 510 will not charge in car but ok at home

The Car chargers are generally the defective unit.
I have also faced a similar issue as the spring loaded cigarette lighter was pushing the charger causing it to disconnect.

Just purchased a Via 135 sat nav unit after 2 days it shut down and refused to come back on. Returned to supplier who replaced it only for that 1 to shut down also. Any ideas.

Possibly both died due to a voltage overload, test the power output from the car charger. Anything over 5.6volts and the car has a faulty cig lighter port. Get it fixed

Am holidaying in spain, have hired a c max and do not think the 12v lighter supply is working so sat Nav wont recharge. is there a switch or key position i'm missing as have not driven a c max previously....

Hi, their is no switch or key to get it working, on this car it should start working as soon as you turn the ignition on so as your driving it should be charging.

the only reasons it may not be working could be a fuse or some one may have shorted it out by leaving the cig lighter down to long.

have a look in the glove box and see if the owners handbook is in their if it is have a look in their at the fuse box diagram and locate the fuse for the aux cig lighter then check if the fuse has blown, if it has blown their should be a spare fuse in the fuse box and it should tell you this in the owners handbook,
if how ever the fuse is ok then this means some one has shorted the lighter out and the only way of getting it working is to get the main part replaced and as this is higher car its something you wont be doing.

i would check the fuse and if its blown put the spare in or if their is no spare then it would be worth buying one as they cost next to nothing to buy.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

When I power my sat nav through my computer using a USB lead the sat nav works properly (ie the screen display is perfect) when I use the sat nav in my car using my cigarette lighter as the power supply...

Hi Ernie, as you've already tried two different chargers, it sounds clear that it's not a charger problem. But, did you try also a different cigarette lighter? The problem may due to your car CL over power (maybe a fuse went...) If it doesn't work please let me know, we'll try smth different. Regards, Peter

Where to get in car charger for evesham 7211

I just bought an in-car charger for the 7211 on ebay.
It is 5v with a 2amp flow.
It's not for the mini-USB port on the side but for the dc input hole on the other side.
I've just plugged it into my laptop via the mini-USB port to see if it will charge that way but it doesn't seem to be doing.
Hope this helps.

3 amp fuse in sat nav power lead keeps blowing

possibly a spike through the ciggarette lighter plug, try putting slightly larger fuse in ( 4 or 5 amp )

temporarily and see if it blows the slightlty larger fuse. if it does it's more likely to be something wrong with the ciggarette lighter socket if it doesn't blow the fuse it's more likely to be the power supply. Ebay for another one perhaps ??
