Umm... Not easy this one.....

I hope you have a half decent anti-virus prog OR better still,An amd 64 dual core processor(Bult in virus catcher)

It is possible you have a Buffer virus (nasty little devil)
But... Try this trick

un-install win-dvd
Clean your registry.
If you haven't a reg cleaner download Ashampoo3 (google it)
Make yourself a folder on desktop & download the program to it.

Its only a 10day trail program but its good enough for what you want.
Clean your Reg & tune your internet(& anything else you want to do)
download spybot search & destroy 1.5 Version(not any other)
The reason for this is because i still recon its one of the best versions.
Again save into that folder on your desktop
Run spy bot & click on the update,After updating Run the prog
It might take a while but at least it'll find those pests.
After your satified you have cleaned your reg & run Sb Then un-install then (when your happy) RE-install win-dvd prog.
(Final notes):

It does help if you have the following

  • 20 MB available hard drive space is needed
  • Microsoft DirectX 8.1 or greater enabled graphics subsystem
  • (if your pc isnt too old your card should be Direct x9 at least)
  • Audio subsystem that supports 48Khz (or greater) stereo playback.(No need to worry about this one)
  • Check your refresh rate Is somewhere around 70-72mhz
  • (the better the rate the better quality picture)
  • along with the refresh rate you might as well set your resalution to 1280x1024 or higher.

    Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Here's a link to this great service

    Good luck!

I have a Samsung DVD-v5650 which has always worked great. A couple of days ago, it suddenly stopped playing dvd's. We purchased a new dvd and it will start to play, then it will get choppy and show...

That sounds like a classic case of DVD laser and spindle motor failure (traverse unit). The squares you mention are pixels, the picture pixelates and breaks up, then freezes (caused by voltage changes in the laser and the motor speed). Being as this is not a DVD recorder, it is probably not economical to repair. You can try carefully cleaning the laser assembly (tips on how to do this may be found elsewhere on FixYa or similar forums) and/or spindle hub. If that does not solve the issue, sadly, you would be reduced to just the VCR part (or you could purchase a new player since the cost of such would be cheaper than repairs to this - assuming parts were available).

Not the best news, but you can try the simple in-home cleaning of the unit first before taking any further action.

Check your progressive button below the VHS. You probably have an interlaced tv and are playing in progressive.

No picture, only sounds when playing DVD

The issue might be that you could be missing some codes to play the dvds.

First i want to uninstall all the codecs from the control panel - add/remove programs.

Then download the latest vesion of klite codec pack with the player.

    The link is :

Install this by selecting "lots of stuff" with the player.

Then play your DVD, it will work fine.

    Good Luck.
