The problem you describe is frequently due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the inside contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sand paper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, wipe the ends of the batteries, and replace them in the camera. This cleaning process works about 90% of the time, and I hope that it cures your problem.

Wont turn on and lens wont extend. Put in new fully charged battery but still nothing. Can hear motor but nothing works.

This is may be a camera battery problem or a lens error. Try Li-ion batteries first and see if anything better

Battery is fully charged but camera does not work, lens stays inside the camera, nothing works

If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that is preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you are using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Kodak easyshare ls743. lens wont retract. camera error #E45 shows on screen. battery is fully charged.

If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that is preventing the camera from properly powering up or powering down. If it hasn't been dropped, your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge. New camera with fully charged battery won't turn on

It may be something more serious, or your new batteries may be too low for the camera to work properly, but the problem you describe is frequently due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion buildups may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment, clean the contacts at both ends of the batteries, and reinstall them in the camera. Assuming that the batteries are fresh/fully charged, this takes care of about 90% of the startup problems. I hope it works for you.

Camera wont turn on!! help!!

Dear Texaslilly,
Although there is nothing much to do but you can still try the following.
  1. Try with different set of batteries
  2. Remove the memory card from the camera
  3. Cameras generally do have an option to plug-in external power supply..Try with external power supply .. if there is any.
  4. Now this might sound little crazy but no harm in trying .... Remove batteries... Press and hold the power button for few seconds... release the power button ... reinsert the batteries and try to power on without memory card.
Try the above and let me know if it works.

Regards,
Srinivas.

Camera wont turn on

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:
