Hi,

Coby tv with built in dvd player stopped working no sinal

Check its input selection. With wrong input selection, either picture or sound will come out.

Dvd, sound, no picture

If your DVD is external, I'd check TVs input settings: if your DVD on "progressive scan" mode, it delivers video signal via "component" connections: green, blue, red plus 2 separate red/white for the sound. If you trying to use 3 wires: yellow, red, white( composite), good chance, that the only sound is delivered. Try to switch DVD off 'progressive", if you only have 3 wires. It will deliver "picture". Or, verso-visa: using "component", 5 wires, but DVD set off "progressive scan". I've seen that confusion many times! Unless you have 'built in" DVD player. no matter what, it's must be broken! Use external DVD player, instead! $30 and trip to the store, will solve your problem. Don't want to fix TV, if everything else is alright. Myself, I never liked those "combo" units. You got stuck with mediocre TV and lousy DVD player. Better: separate them!
Good luck,
Alex.

I have picture with the blue ray player but no sound. I plug the same cables into older dvd player and get picture and sound.

Some DVD players will only output sound on one output at a time. For instance HDMI or through the analog (red/white) connectors. Check the on-screen menus on the DVD player and be sure your correct output is enabled.
If this doesn't work, please post the model number of your DVD player along with what connections you are using.

I hope this helps

How can I connect my vhs player to my insignia tv? It already has a built in DVD player? I've tried the tri color cords but they don't work.

I would need to know the model number of your TV to be sure. But the RCA plugs should work (tri-colored cords... Red, White, Yellow typically) But if it's a combo TV/DVD player... you probably need to change the input to AUX1 or whatever the tri-colored RCA jacks are plugged into... and not on DVD setting. Try that. and advise back!

Only getting sound but no picture!

Well, i had a look at the back of that Toshiba TV - make sure that the red, white, and yellow cables are hooked into the Video-1 slot of the Toshiba and that the Toshiba channel is changed to Video 1.
Then check your nameless DVD player and make sure the red, white, and yello cables are all hooked to OUTPUT slots that are in the same column or row - if I had you DVD manufacturer and model #, I could suggest some additional steps to check. Also, make sure your dvd player is in dvd playback mode.

Same as other poster: Player only plays black and white

It sounds like the circuitry which actuates the color drives for the screen are not working, this would ba analogous to adjusting for a B&W picture on a color TV you have color but the screen shows black and white. I would get a schematic for this set and measure the voltages on the color processor that connects to the screen since you know that the external jack has color. If possible I can help you troubleshoot this, if you need me to help out.
