Sharper image bookshelf style receiver does not come on. Checked cord going into unit and it's hot. Fuse inside is good. Can't find parts for it

You have a major short in the receiver, the problem is more than likely in the audio output stage of the device. But first check the back to make sure the speaker wires are not shorting, if okay! the output ic's will probably need to be replaced.

My audio/video receiver which was playing well but all of a sudden turned off as I was attaching a speaker wire to it. Now it will only stay on for a few seconds before 'clicking' off. Can you...

I guess you missed the part where it says to power everything off while making connections.

It sounds like you shorted the amplifier. Try it one moretime without any speaker cables attached. Then take it in to a Tech.

I just got a 1000 watt home system what kind of cord do i need to hook up my system to hear my speakers through my tv

You will need to connect a RCA Audio Cable (see link to image below) from an audio output jack on the rear of your receiver to the audio input jack on your TV. Be VERY careful as to keep volume down as most all TV speakers are geared to take low inputs. With your 1000w receiver, it is always tempting to crank it up and end up blowing your speakers.

Speakers humming. No reception.

The audio amplifier in the unit has failed, and that's what you smell. Turn it off and quit using it immediately - it presents a fire hazard. It might be possible to replace the bad parts. Depending on what it cost, you might want to take it somewhere for a repair estimate, but be prepared to learn it might not be fixable. Often the burned parts damage the circuit board as well.

Usually this happens in small stereo systems because of running them at high volumes for a long time. If you want to listen to loud music, you would be better off putting the money into a higher-power system.

Onkyo DR-UN7 DVD Receiver remote control code

Nowdays there are CLONE type remotes available form electrical stores.

These clone type remotes carry all the codes necessary to work TV, Vdeos, CD players and other domestic sound systems.

I would suggest that you visit one of these stores and see what they have for your ONKYO system, the cost is not great and you will walk out with a complete remote for your system that will work all the other controls as well..
The stores have a fold out paper list, (thats very long) showing model and manufacturer detail for what codes you need to enter into the new remote to make it compatible wuith your ONKYO system.
