Yes it can be replaced you can take it to a hardware store and buy the male plug end there are three wires to be installed and if you buy the plug at the hardware store they will most likely install it for you. Find a Ace Hardware store to get the part. If you can use a screwdriver you can replace it by installing it yourself. However if it has a GFI built in I would get someone to do it for you.

How to avoid damage your hair when using a hair straightener

1. Choose a hair flat iron depend on your hair type
The plate of a flat iron can be made by different material, while some materials will straight hair in a single pass, others might require more effort. So, before you go out and buy a straightener, you need to know which plate material suits your needs.

2. Go for Adjustable temperature Controls
No matter what type of material an iron has, it can malfunction. So, always invest your money in a straightener which has low, medium and high temperature settings. Afterward, to give your hair your favorite styles, try to keep the heat as low as possible.

3. Choose Size wisely
If you have short hair, you might want to go for a smaller iron. Conversely, only if you have extremely thick hair than going for a larger iron.

4. Fully Dry Your Hair
Unless you are using a wet iron, it's imperatively you fully dry your hair before ironing them. For, if you have wet hair while ironing, boiling the moisture out of them might do serious damage.

5. Use a heat protectant
Better be safe than be sorry. You don't want your hair to lose too much moisture while ironing. So, you might want to apply a heat protectant which will retain moisture in the face of excessive heat.

6. Don't heat one section for too long
While ironing hair, it is best that you divide them into different parts. Afterward, straighten each part for a specific time period which shouldn't be too long. For example, if you are using a flat or curling iron, it is essential that you never heat a single section of air with it for more than 5 seconds.

My flat iron one plate has come loose what is the best way to repair and keep the ceramic plate in?

Use a instant adhesive that can stand up on heat without which you need to replace the whole unit.

Power cord on flat iron broke

This is a very common problem. Only way to fix it is to replace the cord, which is not all that easy. You'll need TWO regular philips screwdrivers (size #2) plus a couple of little ***** philips screwdrivers. And a soldering iron, solder, and heatshrink.

Start by popping off the two plastic covers on the hinge area. Sometimes they break: they're not really necessary anyway. Use the two screwdrivers on the screws on each side of the hinge: one will eventually come loose. Take the screw out, then use a screwdriver to push out the hinge pin. Keep track of any washers that might fall out. Carefully remove the big spring, and lay the two halves of the iron out flat. On the control side, there are several screws that hold the covers on: remove those carefully. If the cord is the kind with the swivel thing, you'll have to take out all of those parts. There will be two wires going from the cord into the circuit board: sometimes they are attached with tiny screws, sometimes they are soldered. You have to solder a new cord onto those wires.

You can buy replacement cords at most hardware stores, or steal a power cord off another (broken) appliance. Two-wire cord is preferred: flat irons don't use a ground wire.

Cut the power wires in the flat iron: they are usually blue and brown. Brown goes to the black wire on your replacement cord, blue goes to white. Strip the wires carefully, slip the heatshrink on, solder, then slip the heatshrink over the repair and heat it to seal it up.

Now the hard part is trying to secure the new cord, since it doesn't fit the way the old one did. I usually put a big zip-tie on the cord, which is then captured when you put the covers back on.

Once the cord is repaired, you can re-install the covers. Don't tighten the screws too much, they are really easy to strip out. Carefully insert the legs of the spring into each half of the iron, then hold them together while you slip the hinge pin back in: it's a little tricky. Then use the two screwdrivers again, this time to tighten the screws. If the plastic covers aren't broken you can snap them back in if you want.

See? I told you it's not that simple. But since a new iron is, what, $100, it's worth a try.

Good Luck!

Power chord frayed and I need a new one for a conair hair iron CS36. The chord pivots in the handle 360 degrees.

go to (www.fixit.com/small apliance)
what I found out with my hair dryer (conair infinity model) was that there was a short at the plug and when I bent the wire a little to left or right the dryer would work. The plug is GFI protected that means there is a test and reset switch built in to the plug. There for for me to fix my hair dryer I would have to replace purchase order the whole cord. The cord assembly cost almost half the price it would cost to replace the dryer with a new dryer. I purchased a new dryer.

Hair Dryer cord has electrical shortage

IF you take off about a inch of wire from the plug and re-wire it [somtimes with new plug also] make sure to remember the fuse and this should do the trick.
