No operating system found

Hi, anyhelp would be greatly appreciated, i have a e-system 4115c laptop, intel celeron 530 1.73ghz .everytime i turn it on, e system appears on the screen with 2 options at the bottom, press f2 to enter setup and press f12 to enter multi boot selection. if i press f12 the screen goes black and a message appears saying no operating system found and continues to say this no matter what key i press, If i press f2 it asks me for a password to enter setup for which i have no idea what it could be. I have tried taking the internal battery out but this didnt reset it, not sure what the overall problem with the laptop is...please help!

Sounds like you have some settings in your bios messed up, when your computer boots up either press F2 OR DELETE AND ENTER BIOS go to where the password settings is and uncheck that also you may have deleted your operating system by mistake, you may have to reformate your partion and redo your current windows. Hope that helps.

I have no clue if you cant remember or find a password then you well have to redo your windows, thats all I know from there in and out thats what I would do even though it sucks because you well lose all your info. Sorry.

If the error message says "No operating system found" it is most likely a faulty disk controller or a faulty hard disk.
Reseat the hard disk, if this doesn't work you need to test the hard disk another way. Remove the hard disk and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If this computer sees this as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files then the hard disk is OK and the fault is the disk controller on the the 4115c laptop.
If the hard disk is not detected then the hard disk is faulty. You need to install a new hard disk, install Windows and the laptop's device drivers and programs to get a working laptop again.

Depending upon the make and model of your laptop, removing the BIOS battery for 1/2 hour and insert it back can remove the BIOS password and/or Power on Password and also reset the BIOS back to the default settings.

    BUT

Some laptops store these passwords on an EEPROM chip and there are no backdoor passwords available. The only soultion is to contact the Maker and prove you are the owner and they may supply a solution or replacement motherboard.

Need ethernet driver for intel celeron 420 vista

Drivers for Intel products are available from the Intel website www.intel.com However this is a system level problem and so the drivers for your sound chips are most likely to be found on your computer manufacturer's website or you motherboard manufacturer's website, or if your sound card is external to the m/b, the sound card manufacturer's website. In any case you will need your operating system details.

That message is because the laptop is trying to boot through the network. You have to change the boot order in the BIOS, and put on first place the hard drive. Press the F2 key just before turning on the laptop. You should go to the bios program. On the bios, search for the Boot tab-move with the directional keys- you should see something like this: http://slackworld.berlios.de/2007/images_vmware/vm-bios-cdrom-boot.png. Press F5/F6 to move the hard drive on top. Then press F10 key, hit "Y" and then "enter". The laptop will reboot and it should boot through the hard drive-on which you have windows. If with hard drive on top, you still get that messsage, you will have to reinstall windows-it means that the files in the hard drive are corrupted- or replace the hard drive.

You can download the motherboard drivers from Intel WEB site. Select your model motherboard/device, and make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers that matches your Windows operating system.

Please click on this link and select your model motherboard : -

Hi, I have HP dv4000 model, Intel Pentium 1.60 GHz processors, Can I upgrade the processor? And what is the maximum upgrade for the processor? Regards, for more details and features...

According to the service manual, these are the processors your notebook will handle:

Part#
Intel Pentium M 2.13-GHz 396700-001
Intel Pentium M 2.00-GHz 396699-001
Intel Pentium M 1.86-GHz 393327-001
Intel Pentium M 1.73-GHz 383474-001
Intel Pentium M 1.60-GHz 383473-001 and 396698-001

Intel Celeron M 1.50-GHz 383471-001
Intel Celeron M 1.40-GHz 396697-001
Intel Celeron M 1.30-GHz 389036-001

So it looks like the Pentium 2.13GHZ is the top one.

Here is a link to the service manual for reference: This is on page 5-24.

Thanks fro using Fixya. A Fixya rating would be most appreciated.
