Are you trying to wipe the data from this hard disk by writing ones and zeros on the hard disk?
There are programs such as Wipedisk available on the Internet, do a Google search for such programs.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Try formatting / partitioning the drive with windows xp setup / installation cd. If you are trying to format or delete partition in windows and its your c: drive you will not be able to do that.

System Volume restored ?

Possibly, you need to get your hands on a data recovery software.
I can point you at this tutorial about harddisks and a few programs witch they review in it.

http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1139&page=10

Thats a 10 page article check if there is anything usefull to you in the other pages.

Or take it to a professional data recovery center / shop / place / guy.

Good luck.

Serial number missing

The volume serial number is automatically generated when you format the drive. By using the Seagate utility to zero fill the drive, you have made it blank and destroyed all data, including the partition table and filesystem. Re-partition and re-format the drive.
