Question about Hitachi 53SWX12B 53" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

No sound on analog inputs, digital sound is ok

My 5+ year old 53SWX12B recently lost all sound coming in across any of the line inputs, including the front panel. However, sound is working through the TOSLink, the coaxial digital, and when using the internal tuners.

Before going out completely, it would come on ok, play for about 10 minutes, then go out. Turning the unit off for 30 seconds then back on fixed it, and then it would play for hours with no problem.

Any ideas where to look? I'd at least like to be sure what board to attack first with an iron, if it's just a cold joint. I have no reference materials on this TV. Naturally, it went out of extended warranty about 9 months ago.

Picture is great. Convergence is fine. Just lost sound on 3 of the 5 inputs, which sucks.

I have audio cables going from HD 61g887 jvc tv, to my phillips surround sound system under aux but it is not giving me sound?

you didn't mentioned the model number of your surround sound system, for a better solution its important. any why try the following.

if you are connected the analog audio output of your tv to the system using RCA cable, then go to the setup of the surround sound system and change the input assignment setting from digital to analog.
If your connected the digital output of your tv to the digital input of your surround system using optical cable then, goto the setup of your surround system and change the input assignment to digital (optical) input.

if u need any further assistance fell free to contact through fixya

I have 65 inch pro elite 710hd 6 years old. Do I have to get analog box

Yes you still have to get digital to analog converter. Although you can feed a hd signal through the component inputs, the tv is still set up to only receive analog signals through the coaxial input
hope this helps

DLP Colors Are Off - Picture Is Mostly Blue and Yellow

Sounds like you've lost your red video signal (chroma) somewhere along the line. This tv has a 3 board video path. Analog main pcb --->Digital main pcb --->DMD pcb. The analog has all your inputs on it, except DVI and RGB which go straight into the digital board. The digital scales (upconverts) the signal to HD (1080 or native) and sends it to the DMD or light engine. See which inputs are distorted. If only DVI is clean then you problem is the analog board. If you menu and everything is distorted then suspect the DMD board. If you run component or DVI through the resolutions (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i) you can get an idea between the digital board and dmd. The menu is generated on the digital board. Somewhere red is getting lost.

Green Plaid then Vertical Lines, Failure of hard controls, Analog Board?

You are absolutely correct, When anyone complains of vertical lines or bars, the next step is to see if it happens on only digital inputs ( digital board ) , only analog inputs ( analog board ) , or both ( DMD board ) .

Analog board can be purchased at ,
