Removing the detergent dispenser

The small plastic blue piece that holds the detergent dispenser closed has snapped off. I have to replace the entire dispenser assembly ($160 part ); how does the dispenser assembly come off? I don't see any screws?

The plastic knob that the blue arm holds shut has worn away. I put a glue dab on and this worked for three years. How do I replace the entire detergent dispensing assembly? Do you need to take off the complete door panel?

The little blue thing that holds the detergent wore off and finally snapped, We have been advised to obtain a new machine which entails trashing the old one somewhere, spending $700.00 for purchase and installation. The good news is that the little blue thing which costs $160.00 to replace (the entire panel door) lasted more than 36 months.

Any ideas please send me an email [email protected]

The tab broke off on the detergent dispenser door. All the detergent goes in at the start of the cycle.

I had the same thing. We replaced the unit ourselves and still can't get it to work. I didn't trust glue. I should have tried.

Tell Kitchenaid to include an extra little blue thing and charge $3.00 for it

I have the same problem--mine is about 10 years old. To disassemble, looks like you will need to disassemble the complete door--screws around the inside edge of the door. At that price for a replacement dispenser, I will either try to fix or replace the blue arm, or replace the dishwasher. I don't believe its worth putting that kind of money in an old dishwasher.

The detergent dispenser on my Malber P31 has become detached from the functions panel. The plastic has snapped away gradually from each of the 7 screws. Can it be fixed?

At some point the support came loose and when the drawer was pushed in at probably broke more of the plastic away from the mounting screws. The only way to fix it properly is to replace it with a new one.

Detergent dispenser not closing

split the door inner from the outer - screws round the periphery. you will need a multimeter check if there is a supply to the detergent dispenser when there should not be ie during rinse and hold program or before starting the cycle. if there is a supply then the module is faulty. if not then fault probably lies with the dispenser itself. having split the door you can see how to remove. there are two methods of fixing. most common is six screws holding clamps. some are a push and click fit

Detergent dispenser piece fell off and now will not lock closed. I have a grey piece and white piece, both plastic that I found when I noticed the flap would not lock closed. Is there a diagram avaiable...

Hi Ron,
I found your users manual, if you don't have it, HERE. The only thing I see inside is the clip to hold the compartment closed. Go HERE for the parts list, look on the "Door and Latch" parts, you will see no. 8 is the detergent dispenser you refer to. You may go HERE to find the replacement part. The cost may be scary tho, so it is entirely up to you if you wish to go this route.
Hope this is of help, Please rate and comment, Thank You, Joe

Washer detergent drawer will not open...drawer lock or detergent cup?

Something has jammed the drawer closed. You will need to access the top of the dispenser.
Remove the 2 screws holding the top lid in back. Slide the top lid rearward and remove.
Pry open the top of the dispenser top and using a small screwdriver, unsnap the lid snaps.
This will release the drawer and you can clean out any debris that caused it to jam up.
Good luck.

I need to replace the detergent dispenser latch on

To replace the parts you have to buy a whole dispenser assemble for $100 to $200. To buy some time ... Get a heavy gage sewing needle - hold it with pliers and heat it red hot. Stick the hot end into the plastic door at the area where the plastic latch is (where it will line up with the far end of the latch mechanism). when it cools cut off most of the needle leaving one eight to one sixteenth (more or less) protruding. Use a drill and small bit to remove some plastic (or drill a small hole) on the spring latch mechanism. push the remaining part of the needle in or out to engage the hole in the latch.. this will hold awhile.

Detergent dispenser stuck

Had the same problem here today, the softener dispenser blue plastic piece was loose jamming the whole dispenser tray, to resolve remove top cover, two screws on top rear, slide the cover towards the back, you will then see the detergent dispenser, press the right clips and pull it off slightly at the back; do not put too much pressure and try to remove the cover completely, just pry the plastic cover a bit then pull the detergent tray it should come right out.
