Question about Zenith DVC2550 Multi-disc DVD Player
Hi The unit froze while playing a DVD. Eventually had to take apart to retrieve disc by manually operating gears to remove head from disc. Nothing appears to broken or jammed. When unit is turned on, nothing happens, display is lit but does not display the usual info, cannot open disc tray, etc. Local repair shop says too expensive to fix but it seems such a waste to throw it out when it was working perfectly until it froze. I think it's just not initializing properly but need schematic to see how to reset. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: DVD tray will not open.
The disc is dislodged and jamming the drawer. You have to remove the cover, about three, maybe four screws, and then take the disc out to resolve the problem.

SOURCE: Finalizing DVD
If the size of the vhs recording was in 2hr mode, and the size of the recording itself is about 2 hrs, you may not have enough space to finalize. I would use your PC to finalize the disc - I use Dr. Divx, but you can find many finalizing programs out there.
