What program are you printing from? I noticed that sometimes IE7 will print screen content the way you described. The only work-around I have is to copy and paste the content to Word (or other word processor), and format it accordingly.

Change font size in e mail

The printer prints whatever it's told to by the computer. Your printer really doesn't control the fonts.

When you are printing stuff from the internet (web pages, email, etc.) the reason for the small print is that it is related to the size of the monitor and it's viewing setup (the higher the screen resolution, the smaller the print will be when printing it out even though it looks good on the monitor).

One way you can make the print larger when printing internet stuff & emails is by changing the print view size on the screen to a larger size in your web browser (this is separate from your other setting you've already setup). Go to the menu bar at the top (i.e. Internet Explorer), click on "View," then "Text Size" then select a size like "Larger" or "Largest" (something higher than what you're currently set to.)

Another method is to go to your menu bar at the top of your web browser, click on "File" then "Print Preview". At the top of the window there should be a small window with "Shrink To Fit" in it. Click the arrow for a drop down list and choose something probably above 90% or more (maybe 100 or 125%) and see how it changes the print size of what is to be printed out.

The only other method is to copy & paste the text into a text editing software like Word and adjust the text size there. If you're using a text program, then you simply adjust the size of the text to a 12 or 14 point, or larger, font size (adjust depending on the font and size you need) and that should do the trick.

How do I set the printer to print black text only?

After you click Print from the application that you are using to print and the printing window shows up, click on Preferences. On the Main tab which is the one that shows up, tick the box next to Greyscale Printing.

IP4000 - How can I force the printer to use the large black (6) ink cartridge?

Do you mean the large black ink as in the 3e vs. the 6? If so, the large black, 3e, is a pigment based ink and the printer should only use it when print text and black and white things. The 6 black is a dye based ink and the printer should only use it when printing photos.

I have run out of black ink in the large cartridge. Can I make the rpinter use the smaller cartridge to print black and white?

No, the larger cartridge is used for text printing only.

The smaller cartridge is used to add black to images instead of using the color ink to make a composite black.

Black text printing not using large cartridge

Change your setting to plain paper and normal quality.
This printer uses the small black for photos and high qau;ity papers.
Do this and you should be good to go.

Error 5100 repeated

hi! try other remedy. for example, placing the usb connection behind your cpu instead on the front, if still didn't work out, try to uninstall your printer driver then reinstall it, then restart. the broken line that you've seen and the reason why it doesn't print smaller font size is due to 1. low ink 2. the nozzle was clog (better clean it) 3. it needs replacement of cartridge to a new one. don't panic, relax, okay?

Envelope prints the wrong way

Just choose "landscape' from the printer properties instead of the default 'portrait'. Now adjust the margins, etc so that you can position the text exactly whre you want it

PS. Dont forget to rate this Fixya if the solution worked!
Cheers!
