No sound why?

-   I have a gateway vista. I added soft ware for a usb turntable and lost all sound, ( when things are playing there are sound bars but no output.)
the sound manager ssems to have lost several items and I have no idea where they went ( seems like they are disabled and are no lonmger available to enable)

I tried to unnstalll software but that did not help and restore did not work.

-   I bought a new Dell computer with dell speakers and since a few days , my speakers doesnt play anything in windows media player or youtube. The only sounds i hear are the skype/msn messenger sounds. But now , even that is not working. Any idea how to solve it?-   arjundev91

-   My altec lansing speakers dont work when plugged into my computer but they work on my Ipod. I don't know whats wrong with it. They used to work on the same computer but suddenly stopped.-   cici8

-   I recently bought Bose Companion 3 speakers for my PC (HP pavilion s7750 using OS Windows Vista). They work when connected to my iPod but there is absolutely no sound when I connect them to my computer.

I can get windows sound and can play a CD through the inbuilt monitor speakers, the subwoofer jack is in the correct place and I have reinstalled the drivers. I am at a loss as to what to try next.

Any advice would be much appreciated.-   Guest
