Desktop will not connect to internet when router is connected unplug and go through modem will connect linksys program that came with router will not recognize the router when you setup, worked for over 2...

Each network adapter (in the Linksys router, or in your computer) has a unique 12-character code. Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) will require you to "register" this 'MAC' (Media Acquisition Control) address, before they grant an IP-address to the device (router or computer). So, when you "bypass" the router, you're showing a different MAC-address to the ISP, and they are not allowing that MAC-address to get connected. Talk to your ISP.

Or, some cable-modems check the MAC-address, allowing just one or two computers to connect. Turn the cable-modem off, to make it "forget" the MAC-addresses that have connected to it.
Connect the router to the cable-modem.
Turn the modem on.
Turn the router on.
Connect your computer to the router.
Restart your computer.

Or, maybe the router really is "dead'; try the above, before choosing this option, and before buying a new router.

I moved my router no Internet now

Before spending your money on a new router & possibly having the same issue again, you might want to call your ISP & ask them to reset the mac/ip binding. Then, make sure your router is the first device to connect. Some ISPs create this binding which doesn't expire for several hours during which time a new device will not be allowed to bind. Just call the ISP to be sure. Otherwise, your new router will yield the same result.
Good luck.

Moved the router to a different room and now it wont work

check the physical connection to the router. Make sure that the modem and computer are connected properly and there is no loose connection.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

I need to reconfigure my router because i have a new modem. The router will not recognize my internet connection or modem

It is rare that a router refuses to connect to a modem. Has your ISP authorizewd the modem for use on their network? I just replaced my own modem and had the self-same problem, till my ISP set me straight.

New modem now router doesn't work

you need to make sure that you can access the internet from your new modem first. if you can't access the internet, you need to call your ISP. but if you can access the internet properly using your modem, you need to reconfigure your router by running the setup cd to recognize the new modem.

hope this'll help you but if you still have problems, just provide the brand and model of your new modem and your router and your ISP as well.

ciao!

Connecting 2 computer thru DI-514

Well I believe wat ya need to do is simply obtain a NEW "Account" with NEW Logon & Password with a NEW Internet Service Provider. Then you set up the modem to connect to the new ISP, at the NEW ISP's address, with the NEW Password & Logon. When you got the modem ya should have got a "Setup" CD that should walk ya thru the connection routine... Below is a link for a "Users Manual" that should help you get connected. ftp://ftp.dlink.de/di/di-514/documentation/DI-514_qig_en_Quick-Install.pdf
