Question about Uniden 5.8GHz Expandable Cordless Phone System with Digital Answering System
When I try to make a call there is no dial tone it will dial but no connection is made. Through the handset, It sounds like there's an open line
On incoming calls, it rings but won't answer when the talk button is pushed. The caller id feature on the base or handsets doesn't function. The answering machine will answer the call but the caller doesn't hear the greeting but the greeting can be heard at the base.
I have spoken with the telephone company and they say it's the phone(the caller id display on the TV, a feature from the phone service, still works)
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: handset does not work
Your handset is no longer communicating with your base. Depending on your model, the solutions can be a couple of different options. If I could view pdf files on this computer I would look it up for you. But here is the link to the manual on Unidens website- http://www.uniden.com/pdf/TRU8865-2om.pdf
Nonetheless, give this a try. Power down your base, and pull the battery out of your handset. Plug the battery back in the handset and set the bad handset in the base cradle, and then power up the base. Wait about 30 seconds, then give the phone a try. If it still does not work, then you need to try to "re-register" the bad handset back to the base. Look in the manual under "registration" procedures. Hope my help fixes it for you. Good Luck, CG

SOURCE: INCOMING CALLS
Not sure it this is a solution for ALL your problems, but...
I had a similar issue: Phone rings, caller ID info displays then seems to hesitate, then displays only "INCOMING CALL."
The issue seemed to be caused by interference with other devices on the same line (in my case, an alarm system).
Tech support had me change a setting on my TRU9466 base unit (this is one of the PowerMax 5.8ghz models). This is how we did it step-by-step on the base unit:
IN-USE LINE SETUP
select LINE 1
switch to TYPE B
This seems to have solved the Caller ID "interference" issue -- my Caller ID now displays as it should. The Tech Support person suggested trying that TYPE A/TYPE B setting on "OFF" if TYPE B didn't solve the problem, but thankfully, it did.
Now Cheryl, it sounds like your issue is more involved than this -- I didn't have any connection problems -- but perhaps they're related -- you might try my solution.

SOURCE: No dial tone on handset
It may not be registed with the main unit. You may need to register the handset. With my uniden all i have to do is put it in the main base until it says what handset it is (it should be a number).
If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask
