Enameled Cast Iron Pans In Sharp Convection Microwave 820

The manual does not address cookware like Le Creuset--enameled cast iron. I have some Descoware which LC bought out some years ago and incorporated into their own products. Descoware is totally encased by enamel.

If the cast iron is totally encased, can it be used in microwave cooking in the Sharp? If not, can it be used in convection cooking which has 30% microwave?

I would not advise it. Why would you want to put it in the microwave? I'm quite sure that putting iron in a microwave is going to ruin your microwave and the pot.

It sound like the antenna behind the plastic plate may be warped and touching the cavity. From my experience when they start shooting sparks it is time for a new microwave.

Sharp carousel microwave convection oven keeps blowing fuse

The service manual is here:

You can get Sharp parts from Encompass here.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.
See http://www.microtechfactoryservice.com/cap_test.html

If it went dead several seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.
See: http://www.microtechfactoryservice.com/xformer.html

If it goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

Burnt bottom of large cast iron pot very discoloured and a certain taste seems to affect the food

Hi, Most microwaves do not allow you to put metal pot or pan in side. If sparks are coming off of pots do not use any more. You should be using proper microwave safe ware. Good luck.

Clicking sound sporadically

That particular skillet is just too heavy a load for the turntable system to handle.

I would suggest a lighter skillet or a different container, otherwise, the motor or shaft or both will be damaged.

It is of course perfectly okay to put metal in a microwave (after all, that's what they're made of!) but you just have to do it only according to the instructions in the owner's manual.

And as you know, metal in convection mode poses no problem at all.

You just need to use a lighter or different container.
