How do I balance a Kenmore 70 series washing machine.

Wood laminate flooring is never a good idea in areas that can get wet often. But, that being said, there should be leveling feet on the washer which should allow you to get it stable on the floor, if that's what your problem is. If your problem is that the washer tends to walk around the room when in the spin cycle, well that is partially due to the fact that washers often vibrate when they spin, especially when spinning large, bulky objects like quilts and comforters, that the feet on the bottom of washer are smooth plastic, and that smooth plastic feet don't stay in one place to well on wood laminate floors.

My kenmore top loader always shakes acrosss the floor. I stop it during spin cycle and reujust the load. the machine is level on the floor and the feet are dialed in.

is there rubber on the bottom of the feet?also i've seen in laundry rooms at one time or another the vent line on the dryer popped off or had a hole in it and lint got on the floor and under the washer,it finds it's way under the feet, try tilting the washer back and with a steel brush or sand paper clean off the bottom of the feet and see if that helps, also clean the floor under the washer.you may have to replace the rubbers on the feet.good luck

During the spin cycles, the machine makes noise, almost like an airplane ready for take off. It also shakes and "walks". As the spinning increases, the noise and shaking increases. The shaking...

Not an expert but had identical symptoms. Problem was the loosening of the nut 27mm on the main pully. Simply remove lower back panel (16- torx 20 screws ) and tighten same.

If this does not hold over time, the pully hub has been damaged, and a shim, ( shopmade washer ) may solve problem. Remove belt, and pully, look for damage, and install thin shim, so that the nut will not bottem out on bolt before tightening on the pully hub. Good Luck, Lee

Hi from France,

THE most important thing with a washing machine is to ensure that it is really, really LEVEL.

This is accomplished by adjusting the feet. Often the 2 under the rear are not adjustable but, at the very least, the 2 under the front will be. The machine HAS to be firmly level to operate correctly.

If the machine has always been level and it has just started to 'shake the whole house' as you say it could be that one,or more, of the internal steadying shock-absorbers is malfunctioning, possibly due to it not being level at some time
I would first definitely absolutely ensure that the machine is level and will not rock at all before calling in (probably expensive) engineers.

Here's hoping!

Cheers,
John C

Spin cycle shakes whole washing machine

have you tightened the jamb nuts on the legs after leveling the machine so they can't move from where you set them initially when you leveled the unit?

sounds like you forgot to put back on the counterweight spring in the rear of the cabinet.
or it was missing.

Washer shakes and producing loud noise

I would start with leveling it with a level. This should be easy to do. There are four post underneath that can be adjusted.

Kenmore washer series 70 shakes wildly during spin during cycle

I have the same kenmore and have experience this before. It is unbalanced. Get a spirit level to check for balance. To rebalance, empty the washer (so it's not heavy), lean over the washer and grab the back, tilt it forward and the auto balancing legs should reposition themselves. Re-check for balance using the spirit level. If still out, adjust the front feet of the washer by screwing the legs up or down (using a wrench). This will cure the problem (unless you have a very unbalanced load of towels for instance). Good luck
