Hi, You need to take the console off and remove the entire upper chasis, but your problem is a broken coupling not belt. The following is a guide to replacing a coupling. Whirlpool are usually direct drive machines, this means they don't have a belt. Instead the transmission is connected directly to the motor via a coupling. This is what a coupling looks like: How do I take the back and or sides off my Series - 0c6b869.jpg To confirm this pull the machine forward enough that you can lean it back and it will stand back under it's own weight. Wedge something underneath the chasis so it does not fall on you while your accessing the bottom. Go under the Machine and locate the motor, You will see the pump connected to the motor connected to the transmission. 1. Unplug the wire harness from the motor then. 2. Use a screw driver remove the 2 clips holding the pump in place and remove or push the pump out of the way. 3. You will need to remove the 2 screws from the brackets holding the Motor in place with a nut driver. 4. With a screwdriver remove the 2 clips holding the motor in place (be carefull to support the motor as the clips comes off) 5. remove the motor and drop it onto the floor. Now you will see the coupling..one side on the motor the other side on the transmission the rubber connector inbetween. Replace the coupling if broken or worn and reassemble the washer in reverse order. Now you should be all set. Be aware you may smell rubber on the first couple loads this is normal after replacing a coupling. Good Luck!! if you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Mike.
P.s Remember to unplug the power prior to servicing.

My kenmore series 80 model 11020892 fills with water --will not agitate or spin or empty water makes a terrible noise I need help!

Well the first thing is to check and see if the belt is broke on the drum (take the back off) or the belt is slipping ,hence the noise .Not a major deal but that is what it sounds like and that is good news because that is an easy fix. Get model and your nearest appliance store will have one. I probably won't empty water cause the other two cycles weren't working ,I'm pretty sure its the belt from what you have told me.Good luck! Oh and by the way it comes offf easy just undo the springs and well you'll see easy!

Series 80 won't agitate or spin will pump out water

If the washer will fill and drain, but won't agitate or spin, you may have a broken motor coupling. The noise of the motor engaging, lack of agitation and ability to still drain are the usual symptoms. This is a common fail item with this model washer through normal wear and tear. Newer versions of the coupler are more resilient and resist breaking. The following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385250-replacing_motor_coupling_kenmore_top

The motor coupling is located between the drive motor and the transmission and takes the place of a drive belt. They do wear out and can break. The replacement part number is included in the link I provided and is an improved upgraded coupling that is more resilient. It should last longer. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

A replacement coupler can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com for about $11. Just use the part number in the link and "Search by Part Number" for your search criteria.

If you still have questions, please let me know. If the suggestions I have listed do not match your washer symptoms, please post back and elaborate more on what the washer is/is not doing. That way I can provide you with better assistance. I hope this information is helpful to you

Kenmore Series 80 top loading washer that doesn't spin or agitate

Unplug machine, remove water pump and motor, behind the motor is a coupler, take broken parts to your local appliance parts store. Costs 16 bucks, replace the broken parts with new ones, reassemble machine. Never ever do a blanket/comforter in your machine again!!

Kenmore washer 80 series 110 model not spinning.

unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.

Kenmore washer machine series 80

If it will not spin either, you most likely have a broken drive coupler. This machine is "direct drive" and has no belt. As techs, we see this several times during our work week. Otherwise, if you have the "two piece" agitator, you may simply need new "dogs" in the agitator. if the machine spins fine, fill it only on the smallest load size with no clothes in it. When the agitate cycle starts, take note if the bottom section of the agitator is going back and forth. If it is, and the upper part does not "ratchet" then you just need to rebuild the agitator and that is an easy job.

this sounds like the direct drive coupling between the motor and transmission. very common problem and not very expensive. look under the machine and and between the motor and transmission you will see a round rubber coupling and 2 plastic pieces one on either side; they all connect together to mate the motor and trans without a belt.

Kenmore 80 series won't spin

If it is draining then the motor is turning the pump so it is ok.
This washer has no belt so that is not the problem.
Remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch wires and put into a spin. Watch the clutch to see if it is turning. If the clutch housing is not turning and you know for sure the coupler is not broken then you need a new transmission. If the clutch housing is turning but the basket is not spinning you have something binding the basket or you need a new basket drive and clutch.
If you have only looked at the coupler from underneath you may not be able to tell if it is broken in the center. If it is broken again your transmission is not staying in neutral drain until the water is drained. That means it is going into spin with full load of clothes and water. This puts a lot of pressure on the coupler and causes them to fail prematurely. If this is the case you will need a new transmission.
Post back if you have any questions.
