Casablanca Vary Quiet PC Board for Series 4000

My Casablanca series 4000 with Vary Quite PC board one of the small /tinny resistor is blown badly so i cannot read the value to get the replacement. The other 2 big resistor (3.9 ohm) are still ok. Does someone know the value of this resistor. Beside that the potentiometer 1954150 is also broken, someone said that it is 5 kohm others said 25 kohm which one is right? Thank you

First, the resistor you are looking for is a 39K ohm +/- 5% tolerance (GOLD tolerance band). Second, FAN MAN still has a couple of new boards in stock, even though his website says he is sold out (I just spoke with him today). VERY nice guy, and VERY reasonable prices. Phone # is (866) 600-FANS (3267). I had the same problem a few years ago (burnt resistor and fried pot) and replaced the resistor and pot. Everything worked again with very little time to fix, and almost no cost. Got the resistor at Radio Shack, but had to order the pot from a Casablanca dealer - read on.......

Now for the pot......

Part #1954150 *IS* a 5K ohm linear taper. I'm looking at the meter and a new pot as I write this. You had me wondering if I misread the meter or something, so I went back and double/triple checked. This pot is installed in my recently rebuilt Vari-Quiet Victorian, and it works fine.

However, I want to tell everyone that I had purchased a replacement pot many years ago from a Casablanca dealer because, as I said above, my old one had fried, along with the resistor (just like your situation). The pot the dealer sent me was a Casablanca part 0001040 (I still have the receipt), and it fit perfectly, so I didn't pay much attention to it. This pot worked for over a decade. But the replacement pot was NOT stamped with the 1954150 part number, and I have long ago thrown out the original - so I don't know at this point what was originally in the fan. BUT, the replacement pot that I put in so many years ago *IS STAMPED* "25K Ohm", and I measured what is left of it and it definitely is a 25K ohm linear taper pot. It worked for over a decade (since 1998).

Now, I have once again rebuilt my fan this summer because the pot again failed (I can't complain, I got almost 11 years out of it). New bearings, new pot, new flywheel, new PCB assembly, new heat sink/transistor, new brass hardware and a a coat of paint/laquer (brass). The new pot was purchased from Plaza Lighting (978) 774-7801, Don Guerette - another VERY nice guy with EXCELLENT prices. However, I got his last pot - sorry. The pot Don sent me is the 1954150/5K Ohm linear taper - the same one that came out of your Vari-Quiet. It also works very well - better than my old 25K Ohm pot because it slows the fan to a full stop at almost a full deflection of the knob (my old 25K ohm slowed the fan to a full stop at partial deflection).

Hence, my conclusion is that the part that belongs in MY fan is the 1954150 pot, and the 25K Ohm pot was the wrong one, even though it worked for many years (no reason it wouldn't, scaling was off, that's all). If you've never done anything with your fan since new (like replace the pot), then the correct pot is the 1954150 since that is what you are taking out of it, and that is definitely a 5K ohm linear taper. You can pick these up almost anywhere. The 25K ohm wa a wire wound. I don't know about the 5K ohm as I'm not about to take mine apart - smiles.

P.S. I was able to acquire a W52 remote control module and install it on my rebuilt Vari-Quiet. It works GREAT (Casablanca sasys you must convert it to a 3-speed before you can use the W52 - LOL)!!!!!

Looking for the resistor R15 data or part number to a DESA heater ignitor PC board 113471-01. Only indicator is DALE/R1F. I want to repair the pc board but cannot find the specfic part number to purcahse...

I also need this resistor! ignitor element shorted and took this resistor with it. If i cant find the size i will start with a high watt, high resistance resistor and work my way down until it lights i suppose. It appears that DALE R1F is a resistor series but the actual wattage and resistance are not given

Mixmaster motor won't spin. Leads from circuit board to motor read 119 volts at the motor. voltage does not vary when speed knob is rotated but does turn off & on. 275 W sunbeam mixmaster, white...

so far I determined the thermal fuse had blown. I jumped around it but can get replacement. Now the motor runs full speed when turned on. I suspect the pot turned by the speed knob is bad. Having trouble locating a replacement circuit board.

Hi, I want to repair BEHRINGER PMP3000power supply and I need the pinout diagram. Where I can find it?..

Those are a tough supply to fix. There are two power supplies on the board. A small switching one first starts and then when the input caps are charged a relay shorts out two large limiting resistors. Then the main power supply starts to generate the +/- used by the power amps.

When overcurrent is sensed, the supply shuts down... that is IF parts have not blown. Arcing within the power amp takes these out... the rear-most power amp arcs near the heatsink and wipes out parts there and sometimes in the power supply.

You cannot run this supply without a load on the small ofline switching supply that generates most of the smaller voltages. WARNING there are no bleeders on the capacitors on the big supply. If you don't bleed them and try to connect one of the power amps, you will get a NICE arc.

HINT: put a series light bulb like 100 Watts in series with the power input... saves fuses, the limiting resistors, transistors, etc.

Disconnect the audio line coaxes to the power amp and prop the face still connected to the supply to work on it.

The first thing is to weed out shorted transistors in the main supply (leave them out) and verify that the small supply is operating. If it is not, then likely the two sand coated limiting resistors have been blown... this is just a start on a typical repair of this.

Pmp3000 problem power supply.ic circuit problem.number series ic circiut..

I have a PMP5000 that I had to resurect. I had to trace out the power supply to repair it.

I can give you hint: First, a small supply runs directely from the line and generates some of the small voltages. While this starts, the main power caps are charged through limiting resistors. The main switcher is brought online and if the power amps acheive balance, then a relay connects the speakers and shorts the limiting resistors.

This is what is in the 5000 and I suspect the 3000 is similar.

In my 5000, there was arcing at one side of the power amps. The board was burned and three power fets fried. Cancer of burned board had to be carved out and traces replaced by hardwiring.
In addition, the limiting resistors were blown open, both main switching transistors were blown and 4 small driver transistors (surface mounted) and several diodes AND a switching regulator chip (surface mounted).all fried/

Hint: When restarting the unit, put a 150 watt light in series with one of side of the power input to limit the current in case you did not get all the dead bodies out.

This is a class "D" amp which drives PCM waves into a filter which is then the audio output. It is much more efficient thaan a linear amp.

Sony Bravia V series is on standby. Does not turn on.

That is true. You need to change a new board as when the chip is blown, all the related SMT cap, resistors, and transistor were gone, too. Those tiny component are hard to repalce one by one. Importantly, some of them was changed value and it only happens when the TV is warm up.
