No manual, ordered this mobo w/ processor from Ascendtech.com. Gateway has no board to buy when your original is bad and wont work. Ordered this board as closest replacement. Fits fine, specs same, just different pin placement configuration.

Searched many hours on Internet. Only found 946GZT-M2 but NO 946GZT-AM. The M2 pin config is different but similar. Can use it but just trying not to blow a brand new board. Need to get PC up and running.

No pin #'s on board at the pin rows at all; checked and rechecked and checked again over and over, none. I know what you mean but none found. Only numbers are R #'s, like R665, etc.

From the corner of the board at the SATA connectors end corner, is written "panel 1" at these power pins. The power pin connectors are black. There are a total of 14 pins of 2 rows of 7 pins. Do I assume bottom row is odd and top row is even #'d pins? The 946gzt-m2 board that shows the mobo specifics for power and usb/audio match same # of pins, except power ones. The guide warns you to be sure of pin connections. That guide only shows 10 pins instead of the 14 on this mobo. If I assume the 4 pins above the label "panel 1" are separate from the other 10 pins next to these 4 then that would match the M2 diagraming and what you describe as "no 10th pin, assuming the top row is the even #'d pins and the bottom row is odd #'d pins.

Again, I'm just trying to be sure so I dont blow the board.....need it to run.

    Thanks.

The 946 GZT-AM is also used in the Acer Aspire T690, Acer AcerPower FH and Acer AcerPower SK50.

Here is the link to the Service Manual that includes motherboard replacement information including jumper settings:

Hope this helps,

HD LED is just a LED -- if you get it "backwards", either the lamp will light or it won't. No big deal.

PWR SW is a switch -- press the button to close the circuit,
and release the button to open the circuit. Polarity does not matter.

USB connectors have 9-pins: 4 in one row, and 5 in the other row.
So, look for a '1' on the motherboard, beside the first pin;
there is no 10th pin.

Did the motherboard *NOT* come with a reference manual?

Did you search on the Internet for the manual for "946 GZT-AM" ?

I have an MS-7502VER:1.2 motherboard and i cannot find wher to plug the power switch into

Hi scouts692

The Front Panel Header Pin arrangement for this motherboard is unusual, in that the header only appears to have 8 pins in a single column rather 2 parallel columns of 6 Pins with 1 blank, as most conventional motherboards do.

Pin 1 is POWER SWITCH orange or red (PWR SW 1)
Pin 2 is POWER SWITCH white or black (PWR SW 2)
Pin 3 is POWER LAD + (PWR LED -)
Pin 4 is POWER LED - (PWR LED +)
Pin 5 is HARD DRIVE LED - (HD LED -)
Pin 6 is HARD DRIVE LED + (HD LED +)
Pin 7 is RESET SWITCH blue or green (RST SW/RST 1)
Pin 8 is RESET SWITCH white or black (RST SW/RST 2)

Please refer to a PDF of the Motherboard Manual for additional information about the setup of this motherboard (the relevant page for the Front Panel Header is page 17/Section 2-13)

hope this helps.

Installed mother to new tower case and pwr sw | hd led | reset | power led connecting to my board is the Intel dq67sw 155 matx motherboard need accurate dir to connect these please help

info found at http://downloadmirror.intel.com/19707/eng/DQ67SW_ProductGuide01_English.pdf
Front Panel Header Pin info for DQ67SW. They should be color coded too. 1 Hard disk LED + orange
2 Power LED+ green
3 Hard disk LED - orange
4 Power LED- green 5 Reset Switch - blue
6 Power switch + red
7 Reset switch + blue 8 Power switch - red
9 Power Out (do not use)
10 No pin
NOTE When connecting individual wires from your chassis front panel to the front panel header, be sure to observe the connection polarity. Positive wires are usually solid color and negative wires are usually white or striped.
There is also an alternative pin header if you have a power wire that uses a 3 pin connector instead of a 2 pin connector. It is the 3 pins just past pin 9, and it should be missing the pin in the middle of the 3 pin block. The pin closest to pin 9 is the power led + and the furthest from pin 9 is the power led -.
if you need clarification, check out page 50 of the manual posted above at intel.com

I need help connecting the power on cable and led cable as well as the hard drive light cable. for my emachine w3644

These cables are attached in the lower right corner of the motherboard. There are two rows of pins there. Probably 10 pins in all. They should be marked with letters something like hdled (hard drive LED), pwr (power light) pwr sw (power switch) spk (speaker) etc. Anyway, if you can't find markings, hooking the little plugs up to sets of the pins one plug at a time will tell you which works. You can't hurt anything by trying various combinations

Front panel to motherboard, ASRock P4i65G, connections

the power switch is on the 3 and 4 pins....the 7 and 8 pin are the reset pins. Trying it on wrong pins just won't startup the board but won't short circuit anything.

TRYING TO HOOK UP MU POWER BUTTON NEED TO KNOW

Hi there
The front panel connectors are mainly,
  • harddisk activity connector
  • power switch connector
  • reset switch connector
  • power LED connector
  • speakers connector
  • USB connector
Harddisk activity connector
This normally comes red in colour and is labeled as HDD-LED
Power switch connector
This comes green in colour and is labeled as POWER-SW
Reset switch connector
This usually comes grey in colour and is labeled as RST-SW
Power LED connector
This is usually green in colour and is labled as PWR-LED
Speakers connector
This speaker will give different beep sounds during boot to tell the user if there is any errors. It occupies 4 pins, however only 2 is important for the function. Be sure to connect the red coloured cable to the positive polarity and the black to the negative.

Wiring info

Most Mobo's have printing next to the places that are jumpered or pluged into. The ones you need sould be close to the edge of the mobo, that is close to the front {power button} side.
