How to connect my self and make my IP address ?

you can set your laptop up to detect ip address automatically in its network settings. if you had provided the operating system it would have helped to narrow down how to do this. If you had told us how you plan to connect to the router this also would have been helpful. Are you connecting via blue cat5 ethernet cable or via wireless. If it is wireless your laptop should detect the wireless network and you can ask it to connect to it. If the wireless link is encrypted you need to log into the router via ethernet cable and look for the securirty settings on the wireless and find out what the encryption code is. Usually the router will use what is called an internal IP address range. the subnet is usually class c being 255.255.255.0 and the ip address default gateway IP address is usually either 10.0.0.1 or 198.168.0.1 and this can be put into the browser to log into the router. When you set the laptop to automatically obtain the IP address the Wireless Router has a DHCP server that manages the leases of IP addresses to computers connected to it. However if you are connecting the Wireless Router into an existing network with another router you will need to set the IP address to the next IP address eg 10.0.0.1 on existing router make second router 10.0.0.2> if you have a DCHP server on the wireless turn it off if you have a DCHP server on the existing router otherwise you have confusion as to which DHCP server to listen too on your network.Make sure the DHCP router does not allocate at least the first 10 addresses eg 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.10 to allow for the routers and printers on your network that may need dedicated IP addresses (Static IP addresses)

How to install router without a cd

You do not need the setup CD to make a router work. Here is how you establish Internet connections on a router...

->Assign your PC an IP address in the same range as the router's default address- for most routers, assign the IP address of 192.168.1.2 but you should check from manufacturer website.

->Connect the PC directly to the router with an Ethernet cable.

->Open a web browser (IE, Firefox, Safari) and enter "http://" and then the IP address number of the router into the address bar.

->Enter the default Name and Password

->Your are now in your router's "web interface" Control Panel, and you can enter the PPPoE setting provided by your ISP. Typically all you need is an identifier.. which is an e-mail address + password.

->Return to your PC's Network Connections and reset your PC to "Get address automatically-DHCP". Reboot your PC if necessary.

How can I configure my router so all of my laptops can connect to the internet? Also, do I need to make any changes to my laptops configuration?

All Linksys routers have a built-in web-based setup page that allows the user to customize settings and set up advanced properties.
NOTE: Before accessing the router's web-based setup page, make sure the router is powered on and the computer is wired to one of the Ethernet ports on the router (1, 2, 3 or 4 ).

Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys routers) then press [Enter].

NOTE : For WRP400, the default IP address would be "192.168.15.1" and if you place the router behind a primary router with the IP address of "192.168.15.1", then the router will automatically assume a new default IP address, "192.168.16.1".

Step 3:
A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name field blank then enter your router's password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.

Every time I try to access my DI 514 screen i get my internet provider DSL configuation screen

I presume you are attempting to access your router by typing the numeric address (e.g., 192.168.1.1) into your browser.
The address you are typing into your browser is apparently the address of your DSL modem, not your wireless router. This address may be subtly different, e.g., 192.168.0.1.
I suggest you pull up the window that shows your computer's network address, its netmask, and its server address. The server address is the one you need to type into your browser.
If this still gets you your DSL modem, it could be that you have configured your router to provide the same range of addresses on its LAN side as your DSL modem provides on your router's WAN side. This is an unworkable configuration. You will need to disconnect the DSL modem from the router so that you talk ONLY to the router, and change its configuration to use a different address range.
It's hard to get more specific without knowing what addresses you are using or how your network is set up. The above is a general overview of what you need to do to solve this problem.

LINKSYS ROUTER

You need to know the ip address of your dvr. It might have a factory set ip address or a dynamic ip address from the router. You can then use this ip address to access your dvr.

If your dvr has a static ip, that static ip should be in the same range as the router's ip address so that the router can communicate with the dvr.

IP address

Hi tammyhope,
I would guess that your ISP is providing a dynamic IP address for connectivity to the internet. If your router is changing the IP address back to default, I would think that your configuration is not setup properly, to receive a dynamic address, but is set with a static address instead. So what happens is that when you attempt to connect to your ISP your router is resetting. If this is the case then you need to go into the router configuration and set it to recieve a dynamic address from your ISP.

I need your help with connecting my psp online

You will first need to find the DNS setting which is probably 255.255.255.0 and IP address of your router, which is probably 192.168.2.1. Check your computers ip addresses which will be the next number up eg 192.168.2.2. You then need to go into the psp manual connection set up and use 192.168.2.5 as the psp ip address to be on the safe side and not duplicate an address. Set the dns primary and secondary server addresses as 255.255.255.0 and set the gateway address as 192.168.2.1( if that is your routers address, as the gateway is your router)

Static IP

Normally a router will assign an ip address in relation to it's own address and not a static address, eg if router address is 192.168.2.1 it will assign your pc as 192.168.2.2. So if you mean you want to change the router to your pc's addresses that you have set yourself, you need to manually alter the routers ip address and dns address to the same as ypur pc's eg if yours are 10.0.0.1 then the router can be 10.0.0.2 or anything as long as first 3 digits are same. If it's not answered then apologies as it's unusual to detect static addresses, normally they are unable and can't see your pc'c.
