Question about Nikon D50 Digital Camera
CHG indicates problem with the memory card. If there are pictures on the card, take it out and download via a card reader.
Then you need to reformat the card. The best way is to do this on the PC and then in the camera, but you can also do it in the camera only.
On the PC, right click on the icon for the card, then select format and do a regular (not quick) format on the card. This will delete all the data from the card.
Then, put it in the camera and do a format there.
If the card still doesn't work, the problem is the contacts on either the card or the camera. To check which one, you need to get a new card and repeat the format process. If the error persists, it's a camera problem and you need to take it in for service.
Let me know if you still have questions, I follow threads but not always every day.
